At the Good Design Awards with Good Design Australia where the Gippsland Coastal Assembly has been awarded a National social impact design award. Huge thanks to the wonderful participants along the coast who gave up their time to show the passion for their community and what benefits they need. Good things happen when communities get a seat at the table.

Iberdrola Australia is developing the Aurora Green Offshore Wind Project, proposed to be located 25km+ from the Gippsland coast, between Seaspray/The Honeysuckles and Woodside Beach, within the Commonwealth’s declared offshore wind area (OEI 01 2022). The Project has a proposed capacity of up to 3 gigawatts (GW) and is being developed to support Victoria’s and Australia’s renewable energy transition.

Iberdrola Australia has engaged Environmental Resources Management (ERM) to undertake a Social Impact Assessment (SIA) to inform the planning and approvals for the Project. As part of this process, a survey is being run, which is designed to help better understand community views, concerns and expectations. The Net Zero Economy Authority’s Latrobe and Gippsland toolkit brings together practical information and resources to help workers, businesses and communities navigate this change and make the most of the opportunities ahead.

It covers everything from skills and training and career pathways to government support, industry initiatives and programs shaping Gippsland’s future workforce.

We’re proud that TWA’s Powering Her Pathway is featured in the toolkit through the story of Grace, one of the inaugural graduates of the program delivered with TAFE Gippsland. Grace has recently started a traineeship with the civil contractors working on the Delburn Wind Farm, showing how inclusive training pathways can connect women with real opportunities in the emerging clean energy economy. 🌱👷‍♀️

• Learn what’s changed since the draft preferred route
• Find out what comes next as planning progresses

📐 The reference design is an early project design that shows one way the project could be built. It includes indicative tower locations, indicative easement, access tracks and likely construction activities.

The reference design will be assessed via the Environment Effects Statement process to determine likely construction and operation impacts, and how they can be avoided, reduced or managed. This will guide detailed design, leading to a final easement.

Gippsland Climate Change Network CEO Darren McCubbin highlighted the importance of earning and maintaining community social licence in a region of approximately 310,000 residents.
