GCCN Supports and celebrates International Day of The World’s Indigenous Peoples, and we support Treaty for Victoria.

Country is the land, the rivers, the ocean and the sky,
the people and the stories, the past and the future.
All of it is connected. All of it matters, and we celebrate the oldest living culture in the World.

Today is International Day of The World’s Indigenous Peoples, and we’re celebrating the achievements of First Nations people around the world.

From achievements in arts, sports, medicine, ecology, activism and advocacy, First Peoples have contributed time and time again to making the world we live in a better and brighter place.

To all the deadly First Nations communities across the globe doing the work to get better outcomes for our people, thank you. Let’s keep walking this path to justice and healing together 🖤💛❤️

Victoria’s newly appointed energy minister, Jaclyn Symes, says the state is going ahead as planned with the launch of Australia’s first ever offshore wind auction, and keeping it on the calendar for sometime this month.

“Victoria’s first offshore wind auction is going ahead this month as planned,” Symes told Renew Economy in an emailed statement.

“Our focus is on delivering reliable, affordable energy – now and for future generations.

Victoria's newly appointed energy minister says the state will go ahead as planned with Australia's first ever offshore wind auction, despite speculation of further delays.

That means hundreds of thousands more Australian businesses can now access support to install solar, reduce their emissions and slash their energy bills.

Big win for businesses going solar 🌞

The Government has just announced it's expanding support for commercial and industrial solar, lifting the size limit for systems under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) from 100kW to a full 1MW. The new rules are expected to come into effect on 1 October.

That means hundreds of thousands more Australian businesses can now access support to install solar, reduce their emissions and slash their energy bills. A large industrial site could save up to $228,000 a year on power bills.

We've been calling for exactly this kind of support to maximise our world-leading rooftop solar industry and commercial and industrial roof space. Great to see it delivered 👏

On Tuesday 18 August, the Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium will come alive as Victorian secondary students put their hydrogen-powered cars to the ultimate test in a four-hour endurance race for the 2026 Victorian Champion title.

This is more than a race — it’s hands-on STEM, future fuels, teamwork, engineering, problem-solving and clean energy innovation in action. Student teams have been designing, building, testing and refining their vehicles, and now it’s time to see them hit the track.

Gippsland New Energy Conference is proud to join forces with Gippsland Tech School and local sponsors to bring this high-energy event into the GNEC Academy Program — connecting young people with the skills, technologies and career pathways shaping Gippsland’s clean energy future.

Come along, feel the energy, cheer on the teams and see the next generation of engineers and innovators in action.
