Moruya and District Historical Society Exploring the fascinating history of the Moruya district. Museum open Wed, Fri & 1st Sat of month, 10am-12 noon. Research Library open Mon, Wed, Fri 10am-2pm.

History is not only about knowing the names of our ancestors and early pioneers, or about looking at artefacts from previous eras. These activities are important to the development of our knowledge, but real living history is created by the personal stories about people’s lives, places and artefacts.

The Eurobodalla Shire President, Cr. Ken Mackay, in the presence of approximately 200 people, officially opened the John Kornfeld Memorial Y.M.C.A. Camp at Long Beach, six miles north of Bateman’s Bay. The Camp is in fifty-three acres of bushland, only two hundred yards from the beach, and accommodates one hundred and three people in fourteen concrete brick chalets.
