Knowing where to turn matters.

Sharing information about available services is an important step in helping people access help.

Facing the Facts – At CADA, we remain committed to supporting individuals and families across the Moreton Bay region. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing key findings from local research to help raise awareness of domestic and family violence right here in our community.

Last Friday we were delighted to welcome the Executive Director and Acting Chief Practitioner from the Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety.

It was a valuable opportunity to connect, share insights and discuss our shared commitment to supporting children, families, and communities impacted by domestic, family and sexual violence.

We look forward to strengthening our partnership and working more closely together to continue delivering meaningful support and positive outcomes for families across our communities.

Last week, in partnership with City of Moreton Bay, CADA had the opportunity to deliver training to professionals across the sector on Coercive Control in the Digital Age.

As technology continues to evolve, so too do the ways perpetrators can use digital tools to monitor, harass, intimidate and control victim survivors. This training explored the growing role of technology facilitated abuse and the importance of recognising and responding to these forms of coercive control.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the discussion. By building our collective understanding and strengthening our responses, we can better support victim survivors and work towards safer communities.

Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home, tonight and every night.

If you’re watching the game, think about how you're acting and the impact your behaviour can have on the people around you.

A study conducted by La Trobe University in 2018 using BOCSAR data revealed a 40.7% average increase in domestic violence in NSW on State of Origin game days.

Violence against women is never acceptable.

🚨 PLEASE READ AND SHARE 🚨

At 2pm on Monday July 27 a national emergency alert will sound on all mobile phones.

This alert will override ‘do not disturb settings’ and will still come through as a loud alert when a phone is turned back on from being off, or on aeroplane mode.

If you are in a domestic violence situation and have a hidden safe phone, consider giving it to a trusted friend or leaving it somewhere safe before this date.

🚩 Relationship Red Flags

Not all red flags are obvious. Sometimes it’s controlling behaviour, other times it’s just a feeling that something isn’t quite right.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing some common signs of coercive control and unhealthy relationships -one at a time -to help build awareness and understanding.

Recognising these behaviours is an important step in protecting yourself or supporting someone else.

If something feels off, trust that instinct. Support is available, and you’re not alone.
