🐦💙 THE SECRET’S OUT… INTRODUCING MORETON’S PET BUDGERIGAR CLASS!

Does your child have a pet budgie they’re incredibly proud of?

Maybe it talks. Maybe it whistles. Maybe it sits on their shoulder. Maybe it’s simply their little best mate. 💙

Well, on Sunday 13 September, we want them to bring their budgie along and be part of the Moreton Spring Show!

For the first time, we’re introducing a PET BUDGERIGAR CLASS especially for young budgie lovers.

No showing experience needed. This one is all about the kids, their pets and having a go. 🐦

💙 WHO CAN ENTER?

🐦 Children up to 16 years of age
🐦 Any age or variety of budgerigar
🐦 No ring required
🐦 No show cage required — a suitable cage from home is perfectly fine
🐦 Maximum 2 budgies per child and 2 per cage
🐦 The child must be present with their budgie
🎉 ENTRY IS FREE!

It doesn’t need to be a champion.
It doesn’t even need to be a show budgie.

💙 It just needs to be THEIR budgie.

🏅 A SPECIAL MORNING FOR EVERY CHILD

This class is about giving kids their moment — the chance to proudly show off their much-loved budgie and experience the excitement of being part of a real budgerigar show.

Every child taking part will receive their own participation certificate and special gift bag to take home. 💙

⏰ ON THE MORNING

Please bring your budgie along between 8:30am and 9:30am.

One of our Moreton members will welcome you on arrival and show you where to go.

Judging will begin shortly after 9:30am, with presentations held immediately after judging concludes. 🏅

Once presentations are finished, children are free to take their budgies home — or families are very welcome to stay a little longer and watch the exhibition budgerigar judging take place and experience a little more of what our hobby is all about. 🐦💙

For the wellbeing of all birds attending, please only bring budgies that are healthy and showing no signs of illness.

📩 HOW TO ENTER

Pre-entry is essential so we can have everything ready for our young participants on the morning.

A parent or guardian simply needs to send the Moreton Budgerigar Association Inc. page a private Messenger message with:

🔹 Child’s first name
🔹 Child’s age
🔹 Number of budgies being entered
🔹 Parent/guardian’s name
🔹 Parent/guardian’s email address

⏰ ENTRIES CLOSE MIDNIGHT FRIDAY 11 SEPTEMBER 2026

No Pet Budgerigar Class entries will be taken on the morning, but everyone is welcome to come along and watch.

💙🐦 BECAUSE THIS IS WHERE IT STARTS.

Sometimes, all it takes is one child who absolutely loves their pet budgie.

And we think that’s something worth celebrating.

👉 PLEASE SHARE FAR & WIDE!

Know a young budgie lover? Tag their family or send them this post.

We can’t wait to welcome them to Moreton. 💙

"Mum, I'm bored." 🙄

If you're tired of competing with iPad screens and video games, we’ve got a better option right here in Morayfield.

At Morayfield Boys’ Brigade, we trade screen time for real-world adventure. It’s a place built specifically for boys to be, well... boys.

Think less sitting still, and more:
🔥 Learning how to build things (and occasionally safely break things)
🏃‍♂️ Running off that extra energy with team challenges
🏆 Earning badges they’re actually proud to show you
🤝 Making mates outside of their usual school circle

It’s about building confidence, resilience, and respect—while having a massive amount of fun.

Want to try it out? Bring him along for a trial night!

📅 When: Friday nights, 7:00
📍 Where: Morayfield State High School, Morayfield

🎖️ A Historic Milestone: Celebrating Xavier’s Queen’s Badge
Term 1 held a truly momentous occasion for our company as we celebrated Xavier being officially presented with his Queen’s Badge—the highest honor a young man can achieve in The Boys’ Brigade.

This wasn't just any ceremony; it was a piece of living history.

🏛️ A Royal Occasion at Government House
On Friday, March 6, Xavier traveled to Government House where the formal presentation was performed by the Governor of Queensland, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM.

Being surrounded by the prestige of Government House served as a fitting tribute to the years of hard work, leadership, and community service Xavier has dedicated to the Brigade.

📜 The End of an Era
This ceremony was particularly significant for two reasons:

A Record-Breaking Year: This year represents the largest cohort of recipients to earn the award since 2011!

A Historic Shift: Xavier is part of the final group in Australia to be presented with the Queen’s Badge. Following the recent approval from His Majesty King Charles III, the award will now return to its original title: The King’s Badge.

🏆 17 and Counting
Xavier now stands as the 17th boy from Morayfield to reach this pinnacle of achievement. It takes immense discipline and grit to earn this badge, and we couldn't be prouder of the leader he has become.

Please join us in the comments in congratulating Xavier on this incredible, once-in-a-lifetime achievement! 👏🎊

🌲 Adventure, Sun, and New Friends: Our Term 1 Camp Recap!
What happens when you mix 60 energetic young people, the stunning backdrop of C*C Noosa, and a weekend of non-stop action? You get a Term 1 finale that nobody will forget!

Late last term, we packed our bags and headed up the coast for an epic weekend away. We were also thrilled to welcome our new mates from the 1st Bribie Boys' Brigade—it was fantastic to see the brotherhood growing as we shared the campsite and the challenges.

🏹 Highlights from the Weekend:
Despite a few showers, the weather played along beautifully, allowing us to dive into everything C*C Noosa had to offer:

On the Water: We took to the waves for some Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP). There may have been more splashing than standing, but the laughs were non-stop!

On the Range: Our members tested their focus with Archery, and things got a little more intense (and a lot more fun) with Archery Tag.

On the Green: A "friendly" round of Putt-Putt kept the competitive spirit alive.

After Dark: The energy didn't drop when the sun went down; our Night Games were a massive hit, testing everyone’s teamwork and stealth.

More Than Just a Weekend Away
Camps like these aren't just about the activities; they are where resilience is built and friendships are forged. Seeing 60 young people from Morayfield and Bribie Island coming together to encourage one another is exactly what Boys' Brigade is all about.

"The best part wasn't just the archery tag—it was seeing the guys from different companies become one big team by the end of the weekend."

Missed out on this one? Don't worry! We have plenty more adventures planned for the rest of the year.
