🚗💙 25 CARS, ONE BEAUTIFUL IDEA & YOUNG PEOPLE SUPPORTING YOUNG PEOPLE 💙🚗
Sometimes the simplest ideas can make a really meaningful difference.
Rene, ELAM Youth Worker, recently heard about Thomas, a 10-year-old boy with a very special idea. Thomas is collecting toy cars for children at his school who may not have someone to play with at lunchtime, giving them something fun to do and an opportunity to connect with others. ❤️
Rene shared Thomas’s idea with some girls from our ELAM Girls Group , and the girls group immediately wanted to get behind him.
Using money they had worked hard to raise through their own Girls Group fundraising, the girls purchased 25 toy cars and donated them to Thomas to help grow his collection. 🚗🚙🛻
Thomas is continuing to collect cars so that more children can enjoy them during lunchtime — and hopefully, through something as simple as playing together, new friendships might grow too.
This is exactly what we want our young people to learn through programs like Girls Group — kindness, empathy, inclusion and looking out for others.

Rene has been nominated for the Queensland Family and Child Commission – Dedicated to Supporting Young Queenslanders Award, recognising those who make a positive difference in the lives of young Queenslanders.

Rene puts so much passion into supporting, encouraging and advocating for our local young people, and we are incredibly proud to see her dedication recognised at a Queensland level.

🚗 TOY CAR DONATIONS WANTED 🚙

We’re looking for donations of Hot Wheels, Matchbox cars and other small toy vehicles.

If your children have outgrown their collection or simply lost interest, please consider giving their cars a new home where they’ll be enjoyed again.

Any pre-loved cars in working condition would be greatly appreciated.

Donations can be dropped to the ELAM office located in the MYCC.

🍽️ WAITRESSING SKILLS WITH CHEF BEC 🍽️

Interested in hospitality or want to learn something new?

Come along for a fun, hands-on session with Chef Bec to learn the basics of waitressing in a relaxed, supportive environment.
