In the beginning… A Men’s Shed in Mooroolbark was proposed by the Mooroolbark Lion’s Club late in 2014 and the idea was presented at the 2015 Celebrate Mooroolbark Festival, which led to the well-attended inaugural meeting at the Mooroolbark Community Centre in May 2015. We incorporated in early 2016 and have become a member of the Victorian Men’s Shed Association and the Australian Men’s Shed Ass

ociation. The Mooroolbark Men’s Shed is a totally voluntary, community-based, not-for-profit, and non-commercial organization that is accessible to all men living in the surrounding area. Our primary objective is to advance the health and well-being of our members and encourage social inclusion and the prevention of social isolation. We will achieve this via the provision of a safe, friendly, and welcoming environment where men are able to participate in activities of their choice in the company of other men.

These handcrafted timber turning tools are made right here at the Mooroolbark Men’s Shed - practical pieces created by skilled hands, with every handle carrying its own character, grain and story. No two are quite the same.

There’s something pretty special about turning an idea into something real.

A local customer came to the Men’s Shed with a vision for a bird feeder. Not just any feeder, but a safe, spacious haven for our feathered friends. The team got to work, carefully crafting it to suit the brief… and even extended the post height to help keep curious felines at bay.

The result? A beautiful little bird sanctuary that’s as practical as it is eye-catching. We’re loving the colour, and even more, the generous space for birds to gather, feed, and rest safely.

Another example of skill, care, and community coming together, one project at a time.
