September 19 and 20 is this year's Get Ready Weekend. If you have any questions about preparing your property or needing advice, feel free to drop in to the station on a Sunday morning or on Sunday 20th September. We can also inspect and give advice or suggestions on what you can do to prepare or help you to utilise offers for help from State Mitigation.

Did you know that the Bushfire Danger Period is fast approaching? From September 1st you will need a permit for any pile burns or fuel reduction burns. So get your burns in now while we are still in the burn notice period.

This may be a long Bushfire Danger Period. After 5 years of great growing conditions there is a large buildup of fine fuels throughout much of our forests. Use this time to make sure your properties are prepared for the possibility of a bushfire.

Anyone who would like to lend a hand and join our team feel free to message us or pop in on a Sunday morning to our station in Church street.

NSW RFS - Hannam Vale Brigade invited Moorland Rural Fire Brigade to help with a hazard reduction today.
Nicest bunch of people, well organised burn followed by a barby on the verandah...... and that view over the valley!!

The fire season is approaching, and to meet these intentions the NSW Rural Fire Service will need community support.
Please consider volunteering, and at the least, informing your local brigade of any STATIC WATER SUPPLY (SWS) you may have on your properties.
This step is important to MOORLAND and surrounds as the closest water resupply hydrants are near Coopernook, and the SAFETY of your place may depend on our knowing where to access water quickly.

With the current long range outlook it is essential for community members to step up to the plate and join us to support and protect our community in the coming fire season. New members now can receive the training, skills and qualifications needed to help make a difference in the community.

What will you do when you call 000 and there is no truck available to assist?

Make a difference now so that when the time comes we can be ready to Answer The Call!

Do you have a Static Water Source?

Does your property have a pool, tank or dam with more than 3000L capacity?

If so you could be a part of the Static Water Source Program. This would allow firefighters locally to assess your water source, and if it is deemed a safe, reliable source, a small sign at your gate will allow firefighters to know where to access water quickly when needed.

This program makes it much quicker for firefighters to refill meaning more time on the ground fighting a fire, which can save property and lives. Firefighters knowing that your property has a SWS could also be what may save your property in a major bushfire.
