Today, on Sorry Day, we acknowledge the strength of the Stolen Generations - the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were taken from their families, and the families who never stopped searching for them.

The forced removal of Indigenous children from their families has caused deep and lasting harm across generations. The loss of culture and connection has had a profound impact and the effects of trauma continue to be felt. Now more than ever, it’s vital that we support one another in healing, and the relearning and rebuilding of culture within our communities.

Here are two resources designed to reflect, listen to and continue the journey of healing:

A child-friendly video from ABC’s Behind the News program (BTN) that helps young people understand the Stolen Generations in an age-appropriate way.

The Healing Foundation offers educational materials to help people learn about the history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples since first contact, along with resources to support survivors and families living with the ongoing impacts of trauma.

A message from some of the Sydney Swans’ biggest little fans this SDNR❤️🤍

A big thank you to Sydney Swans for engaging us as Match Day Partners and hosting our Chairman’s Lounge event last Friday as part of Marn Grook.

Hosted by Brooke Boney, the evening featured a panel conversation with Michael O'Loughlin and Aliesha Newman, who spoke about the story of GO and the importance of creating pathways for the next generation.

GO Scholar Aurielle Smith also performed on the night, sharing her incredible talent through singing and guitar. It was great to connect with our supporters and familiar faces, and watch the Swans bring home the win for such a special round. ❤️🦢❤️

How good is this 💪🏾

GO Scholar Bowen recently showed up to his athletics carnival proudly repping the Aboriginal flag and Sydney Swans Indigenous guernsey as part of his Year 12 dress-up theme celebrating famous Australian sports people.

And who did he choose to come as? GO Co-founder Adam Goodes 🖤💛❤️

We love the effort, Bowen - you nailed it!

A day of STEM, teamwork and hands-on learning 🔬

From quizzes and coding challenges to engineering towers and balloon-powered cars, our Scholars spent part of the recent school holidays exploring STEM in creative and practical ways.

Programs like this help create opportunities for young people to explore STEM through hands-on learning that is fun and accessible.

A big thank you to CGI for keeping our Scholars engaged throughout the day, and to the Sydney Swans for hosting us at their HQ.

Recently, we joined our partner, Bloomberg, for the opening of their new Client Event Space on Gadigal lands in Sydney.

Our CEO Charlene Davison spoke about the importance of centring culture in the work we do, and the strength of our partnership with Bloomberg in creating opportunities and lasting impact for Indigenous students and communities.

Led by the Muggera Cultural Enterprise Dancers, the ceremony was a chance to cleanse the space, share culture with Bloomberg’s global workforce, and deepen conversations around cultural respect, leadership and meaningful partnership.

Bloomberg’s team also took part in a volunteering activity, writing motivational messages on native seed boxes that will be gifted to GO Primary School Scholars in Sydney.

Thank you to Bloomberg for inviting us to be part of this special milestone. We’re proud to continue building this partnership together.

At GO, we like to build team activities into our Culture Connect Days because creating connection matters.

At Adelaide Zoo, our Scholars took on Animal Bingo, teaming up to explore, solve challenges and work together throughout the day.

Team building should be fun, and days like these are a great way to build confidence and strengthen peer relationships.

It’s also not a bad way to spend the day! 🦒🐒🐨
