Moora parkrun

Moora parkrun Moora parkrun is a free, timed, 5km run / walk put on by the community for the community at 8am every Saturday morning in Moora, WA.

parkrun is not a race against other runners, but a 5km timed run, jog or walk. It can really be whatever you want it to be, whether that's for fun or as part of a training plan. Moora parkrun offers an opportunity for all members of our local community, male or female, young or old, to come together on a regular basis to get physically active - We want to encourage people to walk, jog or run toget

We are on the lookout for some extraordinary volunteers to join our Parkrun crew!
You DO NOT need to be able to run or even walk!
We have plenty of roles including timing, token scanning, course checker, magpie feeding officer, photographer, first timers welcome and bridge marshal.

You will be provided with support to get your head around the roles and you will be rewarded by praise every week and parkrun milestone points!

We love to include those who just love being with other people regardless of your ability or fitness level.

And you will leave happier and healthier just by getting out in the fresh air!

Please comment or send us a PM if you are interested. No pressure at all, we are a very chilled and friendly bunch!

Exciting things ahead for Moora's Apex park with the construction of the long awaited giant Carnaby statue starting on Monday!

What this means for us: I have a point of contact at the shire and the hope is we will be able to safely adjust our course to work around the heavy machinery that will be on site at the park.

It will really be a week by week assessment of the situation. Our last resort is to cancel and every safe avenue will be explored to work around the site works and project boundaries.

Please check this page on Friday nights as we will assess the site at the close of business on Friday afternoon and decide if we need to cancel.

Hopefully the worst of the disruption will be over within four weeks.

We will all watch the space with excitement as this very long awaited project finally comes to life at Apex park!
Hopefully it will bring flocks (see what I did there! 😆) of new people to our parkrun! 🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛

With the shire evacuating and closing the caravan park, and the weather severity over the next 24 hours still a little unknown we are making the safest decision to cancel Moora parkrun for Saturday 28th March.

Stay home, stay dry and stay safe!

One way or another this weekend will be one to remember!
We are watching the weather carefully and will make a decision as to whether Saturday's event will take place on Friday.
With strong winds and heavy rain looking more likely over Saturday we will make safety our number one priority and do apologise in advance if we choose to cancel. Our course runs along the river and is blessed to be lined with many beautiful shade trees, however these trees often don't fair well in high winds!
Keep checking back here as we watch the BOM tracking of TC Narelle ocer the next few day🌪🌬🌀🌩☔️⛈️🌪

Moora parkrun
Event #440
14th March 2026

parkrunday, our favourite day of the week and what a great morning. It was wonderful to see a wide variety of regulars and tourists, join us for a morning of activity and socialisation. It’s what parkrun is all about.

Huge thanks to the following 10 wonderful volunteers who were eager to help today and ran a smooth event:

• Kylie HALL • Peter HALL • Mitchell GREEN • Paul GILMORE • Ailsa STONEHOUSE • Catherine BARNES • Michelle GREEN • Michelle PAGE • Rachel CHRISTIAN • Rodney GLOSSOP

Special shoutout to Kylie and the team for all their hard work and enthusiasm for providing a regular Saturday morning opportunity to parkrun. Moora is well known for being a super friendly parkrun and this morning was no exception.

In total we had 24 people walk, jog and run the course, including two police officers who in their words ‘were just trying to stay busy and keep things interesting’ by taking turns to carry a 40kg log during their 5km walk. One officer, Paul was even Tail Walker!

Special welcome to our 6 first time visitors to Moora; Greg Edwards, Jeremy Beauglehole, Nick Frauendorf, Derek Scurry, Alison Cooke, and Nigel Evans. Thanks for joining us this morning.

Well done to the following 5 people who recorded a new PB; Josh Page, Michelle Green, Chaylee Glossop, and Michelle Page, Gemma Page. All 5 runners are part of the Woosha’s Warriors Social Running Club who were out in force today, visiting from Perth and here for the Moora Triathlon tomorrow.

From a tourist perspective, I always enjoy my visit to Moora and staying in the adjacent caravan park. It has to be the closest I’ve slept to the parkrun start line. You provide a great social atmosphere and have a wonderful local cafe for the ever important post parkrun coffee, breakfast and chat.

Best of luck to all those doing the triathlon tomorrow.

13/03/2026

Tomorrow we gear up for the Moora triathlon happening on Sunday! Parkrun is a great opportunity to keep the legs ticking over for the big day!

Join us at 8am Apex park

We have a table reserved at Jeanne d'Moore for post Parkrun coffee and breakfast!

06/03/2026

Unfortunately Jean d'Moore cafe is closed for a private event tomorrow. Those that want coffee or breakfast can head to the bakery after Parkrun!
See you at 8am at Apex park!
