At Wandi Nerida, there are messages of hope, encouragement and support everywhere – from the dining room, to the hallways, and therapy rooms. 💭

These positive affirmations and gentle reminders have been created by participants and staff, and are a powerful reminder that eating disorder recovery is possible. Some of our favourites are:

🍃 Feeling is part of healing

🦋 You are worthy of thriving, not just surviving

👥 You can do hard things

What positive affirmation do you hold close, when recovery feels challenging?

Save these reminders for when you need some encouragement 💙

A big thank you to Matt from Nurcha Cafe, for the generous donation of new yoga supplies for our participants. 💙

This donation of 15 sets of brand-new yoga mats, yoga bolsters and yoga blocks has given our yoga classes a complete refresh, since we first opened five years ago. 💭

We offer yoga classes as part of our movement therapy program at Wandi Nerida, helping participants develop grounding skills, reduce stress, and strengthen emotional wellbeing, in addition to supporting a more positive relationship with their bodies. 🦋

This National Reconciliation Week, we’re reflecting on this year’s theme of being ‘All In’, when it comes to ongoing and shared commitment to reconciliation. 💭

Wandi Nerida is proud to be located on Kabi Kabi Country in the Sunshine Coast. Our facility’s name was gifted by local Elders of the Kabi Kabi Nation, and translates to ‘gather together and blossom’. 🦋

This year, we’re deepening our commitment through engaging in cultural learnings with local Kabi Kabi Elders and cultural representatives. We were honoured to gather recently for a traditional smoking ceremony with Kabi Kabi Elder Uncle Tais and Mack Muckan from Undumbi Culture, alongside a cultural presentation.

We are grateful to be welcomed on Kabi Kabi Country, and remain committed to listening, learning and honouring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. 💙

We’re super grateful for the generosity of Mooloolah Newsagency, for their thoughtful donation of magazines for Wandi participants. 🦋

Caity and the team went above and beyond – carefully selecting a wonderful range of topics, from crochet and gardening to motorbikes and rural life, plus colouring-in, puzzles, and popular Frankie Magazine and Breathe Magazine Australia. 💙

These magazines give participants something to enjoy during free time, a gentle distraction during difficult moments, and are a meaningful way to stay connected to their interests, hobbies and identity outside of the eating disorder. 💭

A huge thank you to the generous team at PRINCESS POLLY, Butterfly’s dedicated community partner, who recently spent a volunteer day at Wandi Nerida. 🍃

Joined by Butterfly Ambassador Jenna With The Pink, the day was filled with laughter, connection, and learning, as the team tended to the beautiful gardens, learnt about Wandi’s unique eating disorder treatment program, and even met the friendly horses from our equine-assisted therapy program. 🐴

Wandi’s passionate Kitchen Manager Nerys kept everyone nourished and hydrated with a delicious lunch, while resident therapy dog Triya boosted morale with a surprise visit too – with the day smooth sailing thanks to Butterfly’s Community & Events Manager, Libby. 💙

Partnerships like this help make eating disorder recovery a reality for more people every day. If you’d like to support Wandi Nerida, head here: https://wandinerida.org.au/donate/

A huge thank you to furniture supplier BFX in Yandina for their incredible support and generosity. 💙

With over $2000 in discounts, plus free delivery, assembly and rubbish removal, they helped us provide new dining chairs for our participants, and new office chairs for our dedicated night nurses.

Having a welcoming and comfortable place to sit, eat and connect with others, can make a meaningful difference in recovery, both physically and emotionally. 🦋

This World Family Doctor Day, we’re recognising the important role that GPs play in identifying eating disorders early and providing effective support. 💭

Shame, stigma, and a lack of awareness can impact people’s ability to reach out for help. 🗣️

But when GPs feel confident recognising the warning signs, and understand that ambivalence about recovery or denial of illness severity can itself be a symptom, more people can access the support earlier. 💙

Ahead of (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism, and Transphobia), we continue to emphasise the importance of inclusive, respectful and gender-affirming eating disorder care for LGBTQIA+ people. 🏳️‍🌈

At Wandi Nerida, Butterfly’s residential eating disorder treatment facility, we acknowledge that for trans and gender diverse people, eating disorder recovery can feel especially complex, and ensuring a safe and affirming treatment space is crucial. 💙

Research shows that eating disorder treatment and care is more effective when people feel safe to be their authentic selves. Learn how Wandi Nerida can make your recovery a reality: https://wandinerida.org.au/ 🦋

It’s Dietitians Week, and we’re shining a light on the important role dietitians play in eating disorder recovery. 💙

Meet Rhianna, a dietitian at Wandi, who has lived experience of an eating disorder, and saw firsthand the positive impact a dietitian could have in recovery – inspiring her to become one herself. 💭

At Wandi Nerida, Butterfly’s residential eating disorder treatment facility, our dietitians support participants to rebuild trust with food, challenge eating disorder thoughts, and work toward a more positive relationship with food. 🦋
