ALDP DONE & DUSTED!

A massive congratulations to all our Sunshine Coast members who took on the Surf Life Saving Queensland Advanced Lifesaving Development Program at Sunshine Beach Slsc!

Four full-on days of pushing limits, building skills and putting lifesaving knowledge to the test with participants qualifying in either their SMAR or BOM course.

From mass casualty incidents, night searches, rock entries & rescues, JetSki Crew training and major search & rescue operations, our members were thrown into some seriously challenging scenarios… all while taking on some BIG surf conditions!

And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, there were a few friendly visits from dolphins and whales along the way!

To everyone who took on the challenge, you’ve absolutely smashed it. What a massive weekend of learning, teamwork and lifesaving development.

Now for that well-earned sleep! ❤️💛

A huge congratulations to our outgoing SLSQ President, Gerard O’Brien, a former Sunshine Coast Branch President, on an incredible term of leadership and service. We are incredibly proud to have had one of our own at the helm of Surf Life Saving Queensland.

We are also thrilled to welcome incoming SLSQ President, Mr Steve Barclay of Mooloolaba SLSC. With more than 40 years in surf lifesaving and a strong commitment to our volunteers, Steve brings a wealth of leadership, governance and lifesaving experience to the role.

Congratulations Gerard, and welcome Steve! We are so proud to see the Sunshine Coast represented at the highest level of our movement, a special connection that reflects the incredible passion, dedication and leadership within our Sunshine Coast surf lifesaving community.

Today we’re celebrating our Deputy Director of Youth Development, Ethan — one of the absolute legends behind so much of what happens across our Sunshine Coast youth community! 🫶🏼

From jumping in wherever he’s needed, backing our young members, bringing the good vibes to every program and somehow always managing to be involved in EVERYTHING… we’re pretty lucky to have you! 🫶🏼

And what better way to celebrate than with a little extra sparkle ✨ Ethan is also heading to the SLSQ Awards of Excellence tonight as a Volunteer of the Year nominee, representing his club, Kawana! 🏆👏🏼

🚨 WELCOME BACK, SUNNY COAST LIFESAVERS🚨

The wait is over… tomorrow marks the start of the2026/27 patrolling season!! To all of our incredible volunteer lifesavers — welcome back! ❤️

After months away from the patrol tower, it’s time to dust off the red & yellow, reunite with your crews and get back to doing what we do best: keeping our beaches safe. Whether it’s your first patrol, your 100th, or somewhere in between — thank you for giving up your time, your weekends and your energy to protect our communities. ❤️

And a HUGE shoutout to our incredible Sunshine Coast Lifeguard Service who don’t stop when the season does. 365 days a year, you’re out there patrolling our beaches and keeping Queenslanders safe. We can’t wait to join you!

Here’s to another season of early starts, big waves, sandy and plenty of memories made with the best crew around.
