Great to catch up with QLD members at the Jindalee Hotel for our QLD EWPA State Meeting on Wednesday.

These local meetings are a great chance to connect with members in your area, share what’s happening in the industry, and enjoy a meal together.

Thanks to guest speaker Stuart Davis (Chief Advisor, WorkSafe QLD) for the WHS update, and to QLD EWPA President Richard Gannon and EWPA CEO James Oxenham for the latest from EWPA.

For nearly 25 years, Peter Wenn has served as Technical Director at the - quietly reshaping how elevating work platforms are designed, regulated and used across Australia.

Ask him to describe his role and he’ll say it’s about translating complex engineering standards, regulations and technical concepts into practical guidance—something a new operator or a busy hire-branch manager can actually use.

We caught up with Peter at his retirement in December 2025.

A great idea from the Victoria committee turned into a highly successful WorkSafe VIC Demo Day, hosted by Haulotte Australia at their Dandenong branch.

Around 40 WorkSafe Victoria VIC inspectors attended the event, which featured a range of machines from , JLG Industries, and @. Machines were set up in workstations where inspectors could get hands‑on experience and learn about each model’s capabilities, safety features, and emergency systems. This provided attendees with practical insights into machine selection, operation, safety features and emergency retrieval mechanisms.

The day also included two theory‑based stations:

• Engistics covered best practices for load restraint

• The team provided an overview of operator training, and the publicly available online resources inspectors can access

A big thank‑you to Haulotte Australia for generously hosting, and to the entire EWPA VIC committee for their hard work in bringing this event to life.

Meet EWPA WA President Alex Greisdorf, Business Development Manager at United Forklift and Access Solutions.

With a career spanning more than 15 years, Alex has held a variety of roles across both hire and sales, gaining broad experience and a deep understanding of the industry.

Alex began attending EWPA meetings in Western Australia around 2015 and later joined the WA Committee. As WA State President, he is focused on growing the association’s presence locally and encouraging the next generation of hire professionals to get involved and learn from the experience of long-standing members.

Through his role on the Board, Alex is also committed to his own professional development and contributing to the ongoing improvement of safety standards and practices in an industry he has been part of for over 17 years.

Meet EWPA SA President Ray Green

Ray is the State Manager – South Australia at All Lift Forklifts and Access Equipment.

Ray has been part of the access industry since the age of 19, with experience across Kennards Hire, Coates, and nine years at JLG, before joining All Lift. His career reflects a deep understanding of the industry from both hire and OEM perspectives.

As South Australian President Ray represents local members at a national level. Ray joined the Board to work with the national team to promote the industry and raise awareness among future generations about the opportunities within this fantastic sector.

Meet EWPA VIC President Keith Clarke, General Manager at Haulotte Australia

Keith has been with Haulotte since 2010 and brings more than 20 years’ experience in the access industry, following an earlier career in the crane industry. His involvement with the EWPA began by attending industry meetings, where he valued the opportunity to learn from experienced leaders and absorb as much knowledge as possible.

Keith’s commitment to the Association grew over time, leading him to join the State Committee, then the National Board in 2012, and later take on the role of VIC President in 2017. With each step, his passion for the EWPA and the industry has continued to strengthen.

What Keith loves most about the industry? “No two days are ever the same. I’ve been lucky enough to visit some amazing places and see machines in action — it still amazes me every day.”

Meet EWPA QLD President Richard Gannon.

Richard, Territory Sales Manager for NSW, Queensland and the Northern Territory at .

Richard brings extensive industry experience, having previously spent five years in a similar role at Genie, and earlier with Haulotte, where he began his EWP career in 2007. Prior to entering the EWP industry, Richard worked in hospitality management for 15 years and also sold farm machinery in western Victoria.

Richard joined the Board to represent members across Queensland and to help share knowledge that supports the industry through current challenges. He values the collective experience of his fellow Board members, describing it as a valuable resource.

What Richard enjoys most about the EWP industry? “Working with great people — and no two days being the same.”

Meet EWPA Board Director Dawnie Pieper.

Dawnie brings more than 15 years of experience in the access and hire industry, having held senior leadership roles including State Sales Manager and General Manager. Today, she is the Managing Director of , a Melbourne-based, female-led construction equipment hire company located in the city’s western suburbs.

Pieper Hire specialises in access and material handling equipment and is driven by a strong commitment to sustainability, diversity, and community empowerment, offering training programs that build operator capability and confidence.

A passionate advocate for women in construction, Dawnie is a strong supporter of inclusive, safe workplaces and believes that the right attitude, an open mind, and a commitment to continuous learning are key to industry success.

Meet EWPA NSW President Bradley Halliwell

Brad began his journey working in his family business, completing an apprenticeship as a plant mechanic and developing a strong technical understanding of equipment. He later established his own transport business before returning to hands-on industry roles.

From there, Brad moved into business development with a hire company, which led to a transition into access equipment sales with Genie. He now holds a sales role with Access Service Australia and New Zealand , bringing together technical expertise and commercial insight.

As a member of the EWPA Board, Brad is passionate about increasing engagement across both emerging professionals and long-serving members. His focus is on ensuring members clearly understand the value of their EWPA membership and feel confident in the benefits of being part of a strong, connected industry association.
