Congratulations to Mogo Brigade’s long standing member, Frank Ziegler, who was awarded a life membership at our AGM today (Sunday).
Frank is a Mogo resident who followed a family tradition of RFS service by joining the Mogo Rural Fire Brigade in 1971. Over his 55 years of service, Frank was Captain for 20 years and also held other roles including Deputy Captain, Senior Deputy Captain and, currently, President. He helped to protect local and extended communities during the major bushfires of 1994, 1998, 2001, 2003 and 2019/2020. Frank has also attended many other incidents over the years, including village fires, motor vehicle accidents and other inter-agency incidents.
Thank you, Frank, for your many years of dedication, valued service, hard work and professionalism in providing a vital service to the community. You are a valued member of our Brigade!

Yesterday at our AGM one of our members, Lanny, was awarded the Premiers Citation for her role in the recent flood recovery efforts.
A very active member of the brigade, Lanny is as regular at our call outs, community education and training as well as being a breathing aperatus operator.
Please join us in congratulating Lanny, not just a member of our brigade but as a dedicated member of the Nelligen community.

If you live along the NSW Coast and ranges, it might be time to organise a plan b for outdoor activities this weekend! ☔️😬

Showers and thunderstorms are forecast throughout Sunday-Tuesday, so we recommend monitoring conditions over the coming days.

Coastal rainfall is expected to increase with a focus along the north coast. There is a potential for localised moderate to heavy falls which could cause flash flooding.

📲 Download Hazards Near Me or visit the NSW SES website to stay up to date with warnings and information, especially as the weather moves through and may affect other areas.

NSW SES members are ready to respond to any calls for assistance, but we ask the community to be prepared too.

🚫 Steer clear of floodwater - If you come across a flooded road, turn around and find an alternative route. Remember that flash flooding is dangerous and unpredictable, so stay vigilant.

🔸 Move your car under cover or away from trees and powerlines if safe to do so.
🔸 Keep clear of creeks and storm drains
🔸 If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring Triple Zero (000) if you need rescue
🔸 Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.

📞 If you require assistance in floods and storms, call the NSW SES on 132 500. In life-threatening situations, call Triple Zero (000).

Meet Vicki who joined our brigade six years ago following the 2019-2020 fires to help support the Mogo community. Over the past six years, she's developed skills in firefighting, pump operations, truck driving, team leadership, and now serves as one of our Deputy Captains. Vicki likes the teamwork, learning opportunities, and helping people during incidents.
Vicki is also pretty cheeky, and comes out with some pretty good one - liners!
Outside the brigade, Vicki runs an earth friendly retail space and enjoys motorcycling, scuba diving, and art.
Her advice for new members: 'Be thoughtful about why you're joining and what you hope to contribute'.
