Four members of Long Beach RFB have received a NSW Premier's Flood Emergency Citation, which recognises the extraordinary response efforts during the major flood events between 2021 and 2023.

The citation was presented to Noel Henry, Emma Clynch and Kris Matthews on the weekend; missing from the photo is Dave Jansen.

The team have received a letter of appreciation signed by the Premier, Minister for Emergency Services, and the NSW SES Commissioner along with a pin and commemorative certificate.

As part of the 'Thank a First Responder Day' Fortem Australia and the Eurobodalla Shire Council hosted a family event at Mogo Wildlife Park today (June 13). Many emergency service personnel (including Mogo RFB members) and their families enjoyed a lovely day out, exploring the Park and meeting endangered animals from around the world.

🔥Changes to Burn Notifications🔥

Following community feedback, the NSW RFS has removed the 21-day limit on Burn Notifications outside of the Bush Fire Danger Period (BFDP).

This means you can now submit a Burn Notification for any length of time during non-BFDP, without having to renew every 21 days.

You will still need to notify your neighbours at least 24 hours prior to lighting up.

Yesterday, AFAC News released the Bushfire Seasonal Outlook for Winter. NSW has experienced a warmer and drier autumn than usual, with less rainfall than normal.

While parts of the state received some rainfall in mid to late May, it has not been enough to significantly improve the long-term rainfall deficits or ongoing dry conditions. As a result, many areas remain unusually dry, with some parts of northern NSW already experiencing drought conditions.

Looking ahead, forecasts suggest winter is also likely to be drier than average, particularly later in the season, with warmer daytime temperatures expected across much of the state. These conditions, especially across northern, central and eastern NSW, are increasing the risk of bushfires this winter, including fires that may be more difficult to control.

Congratulations to Mogo Brigade’s long standing member, Frank Ziegler, who was awarded a life membership at our AGM today (Sunday).
Frank is a Mogo resident who followed a family tradition of RFS service by joining the Mogo Rural Fire Brigade in 1971. Over his 55 years of service, Frank was Captain for 20 years and also held other roles including Deputy Captain, Senior Deputy Captain and, currently, President. He helped to protect local and extended communities during the major bushfires of 1994, 1998, 2001, 2003 and 2019/2020. Frank has also attended many other incidents over the years, including village fires, motor vehicle accidents and other inter-agency incidents.
Thank you, Frank, for your many years of dedication, valued service, hard work and professionalism in providing a vital service to the community. You are a valued member of our Brigade!
