We’re ready to go.

After a lot of work behind the scenes since the 2024 storm, the Mirboo North Timber Reclamation Project has now prepared reclaimed firewood and we’re ready to start taking registrations.

We’re offering 1 cubic metre of free firewood to eligible households in the 3871 postcode.

This has come directly from the storm recovery effort — timber that was salvaged, processed and now being put back into the community where it’s needed most.

With the help of the Wednesday Warriors, the wood has been cut, split and is ready for delivery by trailer.

To be eligible, you must:
• Live in the 3871 postcode
• Hold a Pensioner Concession Card, DVA Card or Health Care Card
• Use firewood as your primary source of heating.
*This is first come, first served and supply is limited -so we encourage you to register as soon as possible.

Apply by filling out the online form here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Y5V9353

Have you heard about the Mirboo North Timber Reclamation Project?

Born out of the Mirboo North Storm Cell Volunteers, this group have been salvaging timber from the storms back in February, to be put back into the community.

Firewood will be made available for purchase, while dimensional timber will be made available to community groups through application.

While committee positions are currently all filled, they are still on the lookout for volunteers to cut and split the timber, and anyone proficient in writing grant applications, to enable this great work can continue for our community.

To get in touch, you can head to their page or message Jess Healy on: +61411129886.
Next meeting: Augst 27th at the Mirboo North Hotel.

If you've got some time to spare whether it be a day, or just a few hours, send us a message and lend a hand with the mammoth effort ahead of us in cutting splitting and very soon, milling!!!

Please see attached the media release from the state government released on 02 April regarding their plans for the timber collected from our town.

Long story short, the material collected by DEECA/ERV/FRV will be transported to external facilities to process. From there, it will be sold off with any profits apparently coming back to Mirboo North via the Mirboo North and District Community Foundation.

It does not state that we will actually be given access to the material.

This is why the Mirboo North Timber Reclamation Project was created as a flow on from the Mirboo North Storm Cell Volunteers. So that we could at least retain a small amount within the community.

The Allan Labor Government is helping to fast-track the clean up of storm debris in Mirboo North and ensure the benefits of any valuable green waste that’s recovered are passed on to the local community. Emergency services have been on the ground since the storms on February 13, removing fallen an...

Generously donated to the MN Timber Reclamation Project, these trees pose a danger to a local property, so we need to act now.
