Is there anything as soul-nourishing as Christmas in Mirboo North? 🧡

Our hearts are so full after an incredible Christmas in the Boo event on Friday night. We’re just blown away by what Stacey, Jess, Christina and their team of Boo Events helpers pull together for our community at Christmas 🎄 - the smiles on the faces of kids (and adults!) across the park said it all!

Not to mention all the hard work, enthusiasm and endless creativity that Kylie, Lexie & the Jingle in the Boo team put into decorating the Main Street in the weeks leading up to this event - how’s that big tree at the Foundation?! 😲 Then bringing it all together for a truly heart-warming morning of carols with the Primary School and Aged Care Residents 🫶

Shout out to the Mirboo North & District Community Foundation for sponsoring kids activities and Community Bank Mirboo North & District for sponsoring photos at Christmas in the Boo. 👏

Thanks to the Men’s Shed for our gorgeous new painted wooden Christmas trees 🌲 and to our monthly Mirboo North Market committee whose year-round fundraising support enabled us to buy paint for the new pallet trees and fresh Christmas decorations. Thanks to Shady Creek Christmas Trees for so generously donating the biggest Christmas tree this town has ever seen! As always, thanks to Strzelecki Engineering for your tree-supporting expertise.

And to every single volunteer who chipped in to help - thank you!! It sure does take a village 💪 and we’ve got the best of the best 🌟

It’s an absolute honour for MCDI to provide the umbrella under which the Boo Events & Jingle in the Boo working groups can bring their incredible ideas to life - you guys are just amazing! 😇

Fire Exercise Grain Store 29 May 2025

We are training tonight - as we do every Thursday night - but this time, we are adding a whole new degree of realism to that training.

That’s why the brigade will be attending a “fire” in the Grain Store, in the middle of town, tonight, commencing at 7 pm.

You will definitely see our local fire trucks with lights and beacons - and you may see what appears to be smoke issuing from the building.

Please do not be alarmed and call 000. This is a training exercise, and the smoke is from specialist smoke machines we use to provide exactly the realism our breathing apparatus crews need to experience.

Other emergency services are fully aware of this exercise.

We will start at 7 pm and be all wrapped up by 8:30 to 9 pm.

Thank you, and please SHARE this to your networks, as you deem appropriate.

So proud of our beautiful, resourceful community ❤️ - and forever grateful to everyone, near & far, who stepped up to help in our time of need.

When a ferocious storm tore through this small Gippsland town, residents did not wait for government help to rebuild — they helped themselves. Here's how they did it.

We had a fantastic turn-out last night for the Power Up Mirboo North power outage information night. Around 40 attendees came along to the Walter J Tuck Recreation Reserve to learn more about selecting the right generator for their home, and options for connecting generators seamlessly and safely to the home.

Matt Holland from Prolec Solutions ran through a thorough and informative presentation on various generators and changeover switches, including a live demonstration of the impact of key household appliances on small inverter and large traditional generators.

Kim Sullivan from AusNet, James Bremner from South Gippsland Shire Council and Ruth Rogan from the Mirboo North & District Community Foundation attended the evening, with flyers available on crisis preparedness and grant opportunities for businesses.

This community information night is the first stage of an energy resilience project for which Mirboo Country Development Inc (MCDI) has received funding from Ausnet and the Mirboo North & District Community Foundation.

The next stage of the project will see necessary switchboard upgrades and changeover switches being rolled out through Mirboo North’s essential services businesses – food / dining, grocery, banking, hardware and medical supply. Changeover switches will enable businesses to quickly and safely transfer from mains to backup power to assist them with continuing to meet the needs of the community in a power outage.

If you missed the information night and are interested in more information, you can collect generator usage handouts from Mirboo North & District Community Foundation. The team at Mirboo North Hardware can assist you with purchasing a generator and Prolec Solutions can provide on installing a changeover switch on your home.
