What a great session learning lots about echidnas, even though there is still plenty of unknowns. This is where the work that The University of Queenslands Dr Kate Dutton- Regester comes in, with her ongoing research. But she needs our help! If you spot echidnas, their s**t or scratches please report it and send in s**ts that will be tested for genetics and diet.
The Echidna Detectives citizen science project is a great initiative getting everyone involved with the research.
Thanks to Sandy Robertson from Land for Wildlife Toowoomba Region for bringing Kate to our area.

RECYCLING-
Pens and other writing equipment can be recycled through any Officewotks store, as well as CD’s, DVD’s, hard drives, mobile phones, computer equipment.
If unable to drop to stores please let me know and I can collect.

Since 2015, we have collected more than 11,000 tonnes through our Bring it Back program and our tech trade in program. By keeping products and materials in use for longer through repair, reuse, and recycling, we can make a positive impact on the environment and transition to a more circular economy.

Trees on 1.7% of your farm area.

That’s all it took across nine Tasmanian properties in a new CSIRO study to deliver:

→ 102,000 tonnes of CO2 sequestered
→ 716 hectares of new threatened species habitat
→ 500 hectares of additional wind shelter for livestock
→ 52,000 cubic metres of standing timber

The farms didn’t sacrifice productivity to get there. They gained it.

Shelter belts reduced wind stress on crops. Shade improved animal welfare. Timber created a long-term income stream. And the biology kept building underneath.

This is what happens when you start counting everything your land is actually producing — not just what ends up at the gate.

Hats off to the incredible team of scientists that brought this paper to life!

As of the end of May I will no longer be operating out of the red shop on Campbell Street. I will be working from home for a while until an appropriate place is found. Come and check out the Eco Shop stock while it lasts.
Recycle bins - Plastic bottletops can now be left on drink containers and put in to yellow roadside recycle bins.
I will still collect and recycle batteries, mobile phones, xray film and printer cartridges so I will let you know where those bins will be located after end of May.
Thanks. Bec
