New Gokula Farm

New Gokula Farm New Gokula's focus is the welfare of cows and establishing sustainable farming – the Vedic formula for all economic needs.

We're one of few establishments that offer ahimsa (cruelty-free) dairy products. New Gokula Farm is a 500 acre property in the Hunter Valley, Australia. The project was founded in 1988 when a small but dedicated team from the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) purchased the land with the goal of establishing a self-sufficient Hare Krishna community. In 1990, a spacious rammed

earth building was completed which serves as the present temple of Sri Sri Radha Gokulananda. The focus here at New Gokula is to see to the welfare of our 70+ cows and bulls whilst establishing sustainable farming practices – the Vedic formula for meeting all economic needs. By protecting the cows and bulls for their natural life, New Gokula has become one of the few establishments worldwide that are able to offer ahimsa (cruelty free) dairy produce to the community. Now in 2015, the farm community consists of around 15 committed members involved in temple services, animal welfare, especially cattle, holding spiritual festivals and retreats, tending vegetable and flower gardens, and maintaining the farm. Directions from Sydney :

visited New Gokula as part of their ancient India topic.

The children fed the cows with Kaliya prabhu, enjoyed an interactive session with rangoli making with Abhidheya mataji and participated in Kirtan with the whole community.

They enjoyed prasdam before taking their coach back to school.

If you are school and would like to bring an excursion group to the Farm you can contact us on:

It’s Gita Jayanti this Sunday 30 November. We had a warm up last weekend with 8 families coming forward to sponsor a box of Gitas each for our shastra dhan program.
Shastra means scripture and dhan means to give. This is the highest form of charity. Lord Krsna explains in His conclusion of Bhagavad Gita:
“For one who explains this supreme secret to others, pure devotional service is guaranteed and at the end he will come back to Me. There is no servant in this world more dear to Me than he, nor will there ever be one more dear”.

As you can see from their smiles, there is so much joy in sharing. Some took their box of Gitas home to share with friends and family as gifts, and some will be distributed by devotees to prisons, hospitals, motels and libraries.

Come along this Saturday and Sunday and express your gratitude for Krsna speaking the Bhagavad Gita by sponsoring a box and sharing it with others.
