Have you noticed River Cooba growing along local waterways?

This hardy native wattle is commonly found along rivers, floodplains and other waterway environments.

Like other wattle species, it supports soil health by fixing nitrogen, helping improve soil fertility over time.

Its creamy yellow flowers are followed by distinctive long seed pods that resemble strings of beads.

River Cooba has also been traditionally valued for its strong timber and edible roasted seeds.

Yesterday marked National Threatened Species Day, an important reminder that protecting local wildlife begins with protecting the habitat they rely on.

For many threatened species, trees provide essential shelter, food and movement corridors across the landscape.

Tree hollows are particularly important, offering safe nesting and refuge sites for birds, mammals and reptiles.

By planting and caring for native trees, we can all contribute to a healthier, more resilient environment for local wildlife.
