MEET EDDIE ANDORNESCU 🌱 Growing up in Red Cliffs and surrounded by the diverse agricultural and horticultural industries of the Mallee, Eddie developed a passion for agriculture from an early age.

After completing his VCE at Mildura Senior College, Eddie took a gap year and worked so he could save up enough money to attend university.

Now studying a Bachelor of Agriculture at The University of Melbourne, Eddie is excited to expand his knowledge across the many facets of the industry and work towards his goal of becoming an agronomist.

Thanks to his gap year employment and a Chances for Children scholarship, Eddie was able to secure on-campus accommodation, helping make the transition to university life a little easier.

"I would like to say how thankful and grateful I am", Eddie said. "All the donors help young people become closer to achieving their goals."

Thank you to our generous donors for helping local young people like Eddie pursue their dreams and build bright futures.

For some, education and opportunity isn’t a guarantee.

We know that those living in regional communities can often face greater disadvantages in accessing opportunities compared to those in metropolitan areas. Personal circumstances and background can also create additional barriers to a young person reaching their full potential.

The Chances for Children Foundation helps to remove those barriers.

With June 30 fast approaching, now is the perfect time to help us support more local young people by making a tax-deductible donation to Chances. Every dollar we receive goes directly to our scholarship recipients.

When you support Chances, you're not just making a donation — you’re investing in the future of our region.

June is Workplace Giving Month and we’re celebrating our incredible Workplace Giving partners: Mildura Fruit Company , Mildura Rural City Council , Mallee Family Care and Lower Murray Water.

Collectively, their generous employees have donated more than $75,000 to the Chances for Children Foundation!

Workplace Giving partners empower their staff to regularly contribute a portion of their pre-tax salary to the Chances for Children Foundation.

Every single donation helps us to support young people across the Mallee to realise their dreams.
Chances for Children scholarships provide financial assistance so young people can:

• Study at TAFE, university or an apprenticeship
• Stay in secondary school
• Take their sporting, music, leadership or arts talents to a state or national level

Over the past 25 years, Chances for Children has provided more than 2,250 Scholarships to young people living and studying in North West Victoria, South West New South Wales and Far West New South Wales.

If your business or organisation would like to support Chances for Children, please contact us to find out more about our Workplace Giving program.

This year, the Chances for Children Foundation awarded 24 scholarships to young people across the Mallee.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, these individuals have been empowered to:

🍎 Complete Years 11 and 12;
🎓Access TAFE and university education, and;
🏏Pursue state level leadership, music, arts and sporting opportunities.

As cost-of-living pressures continue to rise, more young people in our region are at risk of missing out on these life-changing opportunities — through no fault of their own.

With your support, we can ensure that everyone has the chance to learn, grow and pursue their aspirations.

Donations of $2 or more and made before midnight on 30 June are fully tax-deductible this Financial Year.

St Joseph’s College student Aydin Yazici has big dreams on the tennis court — and we’re proud to be supporting him as he works towards them 🎾

This year, Chances for Children awarded Aydin a Non-Tertiary Scholarship to help cover the costs of competing in state-level tournaments and continuing to develop his skills.

“This year, I am focused on improving my UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) and playing more matches at a state level. I hope to one day represent Australia if my performance allows, though I mainly play because I genuinely enjoy the sport,” Aydin said.

Aydin also shared his thanks to the generous donors whose support makes these opportunities possible.

“Thank you. Your support means I can attend the tournaments I need this year to improve my UTR, which would not be possible otherwise.”

We can’t wait to see where Aydin’s talent, dedication and love of the game take him next.
