🎨🧵 Creative Connections Program 🧵🎨

Today’s session was full of hands-on creativity, exploring a range of different projects and techniques.

Participants completed beautiful mosaic pieces, created unique resin coasters, designed their own pillowcases, and began working on their blankets.

It was wonderful to see everyone’s creativity come to life, with each project reflecting individual ideas and effort. 🌟💛

All of our social and skill-based programs rely on philanthropic funding. We sincerely thank the GrainCorp Community Foundation for their generous support of Creative Connections and our other programs. Without this funding, these opportunities would not be possible.

🌿 Reconciliation Week – Community in Action 🌿
Yesterday marked the first day of Reconciliation Week, and the Mildura Cultural Significant Events Committee delivered a truly fantastic community event. It was inspiring to see our community come together to honour culture, connection, and shared understanding.

We’re especially proud of our Cultural Connections Worker, Jamie, who sits on the committee and played a key role in championing this event alongside fellow committee members.

As an organisation, we are committed to this journey. We are proud to be working towards a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), strengthening our focus on cultural awareness, recognition, and safety across everything we do.

Together, we continue to learn, reflect, and move forward.

What a fantastic day at our RAP Art Workshop!

On Monday, we had the absolute pleasure of coming together with our wonderful clients and families to create something truly special.

Led by the incredibly talented local Aboriginal artist Maddy Barbary Copley of Waratah Artworks, participants explored their creativity and contributed to a shared artwork that will proudly feature in our Zoe publications and Reconciliation Action Plan.

It was a day filled with colour, connection, and community with hands-on creativity, laughter, and a delicious lunch.

We loved seeing so many children and families getting involved, a beautiful reminder that reconciliation is everyone’s business

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the day so meaningful 💛

We can’t wait to share the finished artwork with you all soon!

Join us next Monday (1st June) for the more fun and connection at our second workshop.

Today we acknowledge National Sorry Day.

It is a time we recognise the history of the Stolen Generations: the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were taken from their families, communities and culture, and the lasting impact this continues to have across generations.

At Zoe Support, this day holds deep meaning. Our Cultural Connections Worker, Jamie, is the daughter of a Stolen Generation survivor. Today is not just history for her and her family—it is lived experience.

We also recognise that some of our Zoe mums have families who may have experienced this too. We stand with all of you, acknowledging your stories with care, respect and compassion.

We honour the strength, resilience and ongoing healing of First Nations peoples, and we look forward together with strength, respect and resilience.

As we move into National Reconciliation Week, starting tomorrow, we look forward to showcasing how we're ALL IN for reconciliation this year.

Jamie has been busy organising a range of activities for our mums, children, staff and volunteers, and we look forward to sharing these moments as we continue to learn, reflect and grow together.

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

Join us alongside other local organisations involved in the Cultural Significant Events Committee as we are going 'All In' to help commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.

There will be a smoking ceremony, activities, free feed and a good yarn on offer.
