Our SFNL Junior Representative Netballers attended Association Championships in Echuca on Sunday, where we had a successful day out 🏐👏

Finally, no rain! ☀️ The courts were only slippery from the dew for the first hour, which meant conditions were great for some quality netball to be played.

We were lucky enough to take five of our finest Sunraysia umpires attend the carnival, where they received invaluable feedback to help continue improving their craft. A big thank you to Cobie Beswick (South Mildura), Eva Andronescu (Irymple), Catherine Brown (Ouyen United), Maddy Couch (Red Cliffs) and Nicole Warburton (Red Cliffs) 🙌 Unfortunately, our photo 📸didn’t turn out, but we sincerely thank you all for your time and commitment to the carnival.

Results for the day were as follows:

17&U Championship Team finished 5th. It wasn’t their day, with things not quite coming together as well as they had in previous carnivals.

15&U Championship Team finished on top after the minor rounds, not dropping a game 💪 Unfortunately, they went down by 3 goals in overtime in the semi-final.

15&U Reserve Team won the grand final 19–11 and were crowned premiers 🏆🥇

13&U Championship Team made it through to the grand final after a huge semi-final performance. Unfortunately, they went down in the grand final, but their efforts have qualified them for State Finals in Melbourne on Sunday 21st June 🎉

13&U Reserve Team also made it through to the grand final and lost by just 1 goal. An amazing effort by the team 👏

A big thank you to our coaches, players, umpires and most importantly, our parents, who make it possible for our players to represent our region ❤️ We are very proud of everyone’s efforts.

Good luck to our 13&U Championship Team this weekend in Melbourne 🏐💚💛

For Kyle Stevens, Merbein is home.

He grew up around the club, started out in the juniors, and has been part of the black and white since he was just eight or nine years old.

Now, he speaks after Merbein’s win over Wentworth — with the rain arriving just in time to provide some ambient background sound for the post-game interview.

After building a buffer in the third quarter, Merbein had to hold off a late Wentworth challenge to get the job done.

From regrouping after a tough start to the depth across the squad, Nat gives a great insight into the team’s performance — and the commitment it takes to travel from Melbourne each fortnight to train and play.

Nat is a myotherapist working out of Fortitude Health every second Friday whilst she is in Mildura.
