Our first meeting for the Winter months and we were treated to an excellent presentation by Jason, Erin and Nathen from the Stihl Shop. They set up a display of many smaller battery operated products which will be easily managed in our gardens where larger equipment is not necessary. All had small interchangeable batteries, not at all cumbersome or weighty, great for the ladies that love to garden. Also an extendable pole for the slightly higher pruning jobs. A great range too of secateurs, small and long handled, hedging shears, gloves and much more. My favourite was the sharpening tools for blades and chains and we were shown exactly how to keep our garden equipment in a good clean, sharp and well lubricated condition. We also were pleased to accept a “show bag” too. Be sure to pop in soon and see Jason, Erin and Nathen for what will help with your winter tasks.
The competition tables saw the first camellias and the tail end of the roses as we move into a new season. The trading table had some eagerly sought after Chocolate Lace Plant seeds.

Last weekend and an enjoyable visit to this local garden. Thank you Marjorie for opening your garden, filled to overflowing with salvias, roses, annuals, perennials, cacti and succulents, quirky collections of all sorts of odds and ends and then enjoying a cuppa, scone and camaraderie by your warm fireplace.

Marjorie has her garden open again this afternoon Sunday May 17, from 2pm until 5pm. 82 Johns Road, Sunnycliffs.
Banks of salvias, roses and lots of other interesting plants tucked into every nook and cranny. The butterflies were enjoying the lantana along the frontage to Johns Road. There’s a good collection of cacti and succulents, a lemonade tree as well as a Kaffir Lime covered in fruit. The garden overlooks the river flats along Woomera avenue and is laid out on multiple levels. On the uppermost level there are many more roses. We all appreciate all the pot plants Marj propagates for garden club plant stalls from her extensive garden. Come and enjoy a cuppa and scone.
