The Volunteer Lifecycle Workshop Series - From First Hello to Lasting Impact

Bendigo Volunteer Resource Centre free on-line training consists of 4 parts as follows:

1. MAGNET → Attract (Strategic Recruitment beyond the Job Post) - “How do we invite the right people in?” Online 10.00 am to 11.30 am on Wednesday 21 October 2026

2. WELCOME MAT → Prepare (Seamless onboarding) “How do we help them feel safe, capable, and connected?” Online 10.00 am to 11.30 am on Wednesday 18 November 2026

3. KEEPERS → Engage (Engagement & Stay interviews) “How do we create an experience that makes people want to stay?” Online 10.00 am to 11.30 am on Wednesday 17 February 2027

4. HEART & HYPE → Recognise & Transition (Authentic Recognition) “How do we celebrate contribution and support what comes next?” Online 10.00 am to 11.30 am on Wednesday 17 March 2027

Free event on Friday 30 October, for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families to connect with local services, access resources, and support children's early learning and development. Refer the flyer attached for more information.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families with children commencing 3 and 4 year old kindergarten in 2027 are invited to attend a kindergarten for an introduction, meet educators, and learn more about preparing for a successful start to kinder. See attached flyer for kindergartens and dates.

Regional Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee Community Forum -Thursday 22 October 2026, from 10.30 am to 1.00 pm (with lunch provided afterwards) at Mildura Station Homestead.

It's a chance for community members to come along, have a yarn, ask questions, and have their say on justice matters. Families and children are welcome.

If yes, the YARN SAFE Worker role might be for you. Come and help us connect with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of the Swan Hill Region and support their access to our services. ✨

Our Information Hub at the Benetook Room of the Alfred Deakin Centre continues to operate for those impacted by the power outage.

It is open from 8am to 6pm and now includes a representative from Mallee Family Care who is on hand to provide legal advice on insurance claims.

The Information Hub provides the following services:

✅ Mallee Family Care for legal advice on insurance claims
✅ Information and referral support
✅ Charging stations for mobile phones and other devices
✅ Tea and coffee

Access to showers at Mildura Waves during their usual operating hours.

Let's yarn with our youth 🖤

Thank you to everyone who came along to our recent Community Gathering about supporting our young people. Now we want to hear from the young people themselves.

We're holding a youth gathering where they can tell us what's working, what's missing, and what support they want to see in our region.

Parents, carers, aunties, uncles and Elders, please share this with the young people in your family and encourage them to come along and bring their mates.

You're welcome to come along with them too; we want everyone in our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to feel safe to speak and have their say. Every voice matters.
