Hands Up Mallee

Hands Up Mallee Hands Up Mallee is a place-based, community-led initiative in north-west Victoria, situated on Latji Latji Country.

Our vision reflects our community’s aspiration: a connected community, where children and young people thrive, and families matter. Our community is great, but not for everyone. Many of us live with complex problems like poverty, family violence and mental health challenges.

Hands Up Mallee exists to change that.

To help our community be a place where everyone can be their best, where kids ha

ve a great start to life and can learn so that they thrive, where families are healthy, safe and feel like they belong.

We can make this happen if every part of our community works together to make the system better for everyone. That means organisations, businesses, governments, community groups and individuals joining their effort, resources and energy toward the same community goals.

National Reconciliation Week 2026 | All In

The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2026 is All In, a call for all Australians to commit to reconciliation every day.

It is a reminder to step off the sidelines and take action where we live and work. Advancing reconciliation and upholding the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is a shared responsibility, and it calls for all of us to be involved.

At Hands Up Mallee, we acknowledge and thank the Aboriginal community members who continue to partner in this journey of creating meaningful, lasting change that benefits everyone through their contribution to co-design, governance, cultural leadership, and advocacy.

The relationships and trust built over time, guided by Elders, leaders, HUM's Aboriginal Social Impact Lead and the Yarning Group, remain central to this work.

This week, and every week, is an opportunity to listen, learn, and act together.

This National Volunteer Week, we acknowledge and thank the community members who share their time, knowledge, and leadership through Hands Up Mallee.

Lasting change happens when communities are at the centre of shaping the decisions that impact them. This is made possible by people who show up every day to contribute their voices, experience, and expertise.

Every meaningful shift we’ve seen has been driven by community members who continue to invest their time and energy and share their insights, perspectives, lived experience, and cultural knowledge. Whether through co-design, governance, community conversations, events, or advocacy, your contribution is invaluable.

This week, we celebrate and sincerely thank you for helping shape a more connected, inclusive, and thriving community.

Interested in getting involved? 2026 is your year to volunteer.
