A huge congratulations to our Binar boy, Arthur Jones, on an electric performance on the big stage in an elimination final!
With the season on the line, Arty stood up when it mattered most, playing a huge role in getting his side over the line β including kicking the match-winning goal.
For us at Binar though, our pride in Arthur goes well beyond what he is achieving on the footy field.
Before his AFL career took off, Arthur was a player, referee and coach at Binar. What we love most about Arty is that through everything he has achieved, he has never changed. He is still the same big personality, bringing the same positive energy wherever he goes, and he has never forgotten the importance of giving back.
And that really reflects the entire Jones family.
More than 10 years ago, the Jones family from the small Great Southern town of Mt Barker became part of the Binar family, and looking back now, it is hard to put into words just how blessed we have been by that connection.
Dad Arthur, mum Margie and their children Taimania, Jasmyne, Arthur and Margie Jnr have all represented Binar on the basketball court over the years, each becoming part of our journey in their own way.
Margie has also served for many years as a Binar Board member and has played an enormous role in developing and supporting our referees.
That contribution has now grown into the next generation, with Taimania and Jasmyne becoming referee coaches in their own right. They are now using their experience and knowledge to develop, mentor and nurture the next generation of young Binar referees β continuing something their mum has invested so much into over many years.
Together, Margie, Taimania and Jasmyne have run referee courses, mentored countless young officials and travelled with Binar to some of the most remote parts of WA, supporting communities where opportunities and resources like these are needed most. Their contribution to officiating has reached far beyond the basketball court, building confidence, leadership and pathways for young people across both regional and metropolitan WA.
What started as one family connecting into Binar more than a decade ago has grown into something incredibly special. The time, knowledge, energy and genuine care the Jones family has given over those years has positively impacted so many young people and families.
Their contribution is a beautiful reminder of the impact one family can have when they continually give their time, knowledge and heart to others.
We couldn't be prouder watching Arty doing what he is doing on the big stage, but we're even prouder of the person he continues to be and the incredible family standing behind him.
Congratulations Arty β the whole Binar family is incredibly proud of you.
