Founded in 1878 by C.W. We have a dream that one day we'll see a return of the ladies.

Proudly established in 1878, mere throws from our current home, the Middle Swan CC 78s continue building on our proud tradition of on-field success, whilst making sure we can have just as much fun together off the field as well. Ferguson of Houghton Vineyards, the Middle Swan 78s Cricket Club (MSCC) is one of WA’s oldest Clubs, the oldest continuous club and has a long and proud association with the Swan Valley Region. MSCC’s Home Ground is named after local identity Jack Mann who as well as being a Life Member and former President of the Club was the father of Australian Test Cricketer, Tony Mann. Along with Tony, former Club Members Keith Slater and Wally Edwards also played for Australia whilst Tony Mateljan, Dennis Yagmich and Glen Thomas all represented Western Australia. Over the years, MSCC has also produced numerous First Grade West Australian Cricket Association (WACA) players and Swan Helena District Cricket Association (SHDCA) Representative Players. The Club formed a Ladies Team back in 1956 with Millie and May Brajkovich making it into the WA Squad to play against the visiting English Women's Team. Middle Swan has one of the most successful Swan Helena Districts competition records having won a total of 26 A Grade, 1 A Reserve, , 5 B Grade, 1 C and 1 E Grade Premierships - An impressive 34 in total

Since the Swan Helena and Perth Cricket Association's merged the club now is proud to compete in the Perth Swan Cricket Association (PSCA), with a couple of titles with our new Association. In 2025/2026 (our 148th season) we have registered 2 senior men's teams in the C and H grade One Day competitions in the PSCA and welcome players of ages, and abilities to be a part of our future history. ROUND ONE RECAP

A mixed bag to start the season with one win and one loss. B Grade sealed a crushing win inside 20 overs thanks to an outstanding spell with the ball from Josh and aggressive half-centuries from Geoff and Rhiarn. H Grade endured a tougher start to the season, being bowled out for 68. A tidy spell from Will made sure Coolbinia didn't have it all their own way in the chase.

New Season, New Grades, New Captains, New Logo and not 1 or 2, not 3 or 4 but 8, yes that's 8 new players are officially becoming members of the 78's long and proud history.

We welcome them all to the club.

After a longer than usual pre-season and a wet last training session to wrap up the proceedings we are feeling confident as we go into Week 1 in both the foundations being laid and the relationships being formed.

To compliment our 8 debutants we welcome back our old friends and players, who have a wealth and depth of experience to support the skills and talents of our new (and younger) recruit.

We look forward to seeing big crowds at Yokine and our home Jack Mann to cheer on both our sides as they open the season.

Post game presentations for both of our grades will be held at 7pm at Jack Mann Oval - Come and join us!

2026/2027 FIXTURES

Here are the published fixtures for both our B and H sides.

We kick the season off with 2 away games in our return to B grade for our top side and with a a pair of home games for our H grade.

Plenty of rivalry in both grades, old and some new that should see some fantastic matches for both sides.

Our final pre-season training session is on this Thursday from 4.45 and afterwards we will
welcome our captains
announce our first two teams of the season,
unveil our newest recruits and the teams,
announce our newly introduced incentives, and
celebrate and share a feed together.

We invite all past, present and interested members and players to come down and join us for another night of MSCC magic.

And importantly, to register. No Rego = No Play - No Exceptions

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT:

As we enter our 149th consecutive season as the Middle Swan CC we are very pleased and proud to announce our 2026/2027 club captains.

With two sides in the competition this season and the club looking to build on recent success and a solid future going forward we have looked into our past, both recent and not so recent to form the foundations for success.

With multiple Jack Mann Medals, numerous batting and bowling awards, recent Premiership experience, and over 50 years connection to the club as players, captains and committee members - not to mention their skills and leadership on the field, and off, we are very pleased to announce that our 2026/2027 captains are;

B Grade Joint Captains - Brett Reinholdtsen and Matt Loly

H Grade Captain - Alex Smith

We wish them every success and strength for the upcoming season and invite you to come and join them, and us and be a part of the future -today!

Our season fixtures are out and our top side are on the road to start.
Both grades currently feature 10 teams.

Our B Grade will compete vs
Coolbinia West Perth, Caversham, West Coast, Hawks Punjabi, SKLP, Midland, Stirling (ex Yokine), Helena Valley and our old Gt Northern Hwy nemisis Bullsbrook.

Our H grade will be at home for the first 2 weeks and take on
Coolbinia West Perth, West Coast, Mt Lawley, SKLP, Brabham, Mundaring, Midland, Glen Forrest and Bayswater

We look forward to the season that lies ahead, the battles, the camaraderie and of course the banter.

A huge shout out to everyone who came down and joined us on Saturday to watch the AFL Grand Final.

A good mix of long termers and our new club mates watched the drama unfold in a classic game together with friends and family.

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT

Last night the MSCC President Alex Smith and other committee members provided an update to the players and members that were present on the status of various issues currently being worked on by the club.

We are now pleased to provide this update to MSCC supporters, players and members alike.

Should you have any questions in regards to any of the issues or discussion points within the update please reach out below, via email or phone and we'd be happy to clarify.

As part of this discussion we have this morning nominated 2 sides to compete in the 26/27 PSCA Season, our 149th season, with our preferences being a side in B and E grade.

And in conjunction with these nominations we now seek a 1 page Expression of Interest from all interested parties for the role of Captain, for both sides. (Top and 2nd)

Applicants should provide.
- a brief summary of their relevant recent cricket background,
- a statement outlining their general approach and management technique for both game day and training scenarios, and
- a declaration that they have read, understood and commit to the expected duties below and to helping the club develop across all areas.

Captains Guide
To further support the introduction of the 26/27 club manual and the club “Management Map” the captains at MSCC are considered as leaders within the club and with the club’s endorsement and support, the captains are primarily responsible for ensuring the following tasks have been completed;
• Players are correctly registered and financial
• Weekly Team selections are completed
• Communication with Club Registrar is completed to ensure teams are entered on Play HQ in a timely manner
• Match day online results are correct or are updated as necessary
• Completion of PSCA match day reports, umpire payment
• Weekly training night program is delivered effectively.
• Game day set up, including boundary and wicket marking, sponsorship signage, afternoon tea preparation and post game equipment retrieval and storage
• Thursday night team announcements are made post training and Saturday Post game awards are presented
• Ensuring player attendance at training and club events is maximised.
• Ensuring players comply with all PSCA and MSCC expectations
• Submission of the weekly game day pics to club and PSCA Media

They will also have a strong understanding of the PSCA By Laws, our club expectations and both the capacity and ability needed to manage all scenarios independently or as part of a “leadership” team.

Expressions of Interest close 5pm Sunday 20th of August.

The Management Committee will review applications received and make the formal announcement on captain appointments at training on Thursday 24th of September, 2 weeks before Round 1

As we get set for yet another training session tonight @ Jack Mann Oval (4.45pm) we are currently working on some new opportunities as a club that we hope will help see us outdo our ladder position of 120 seasons ago and ideally set us up and lead us into A Grade competition once again, just in time for our 150th celebrations :D
