Lovely to join the opening of South East Regional Hospital’s Mental Health Month photography exhibition yesterday. Personal perspectives on connection, shared through photographs—a timely reminder of how creativity can help us tell our stories and connect with others. The people of Bega have voted for their favourites from the 15 'highly commended' photos submitted for the 2026 Bega Streetlight Photo Exhibition!

Whales Whales Whales... we are all obsessed.

OUR PROGRAM FOR THE WEEKEND IS HERE
The committee has worked hard to bring you a weekend of fun and entertainment.
We hope you get excited looking over what’s on offer.
We will also have a few general stalls and food vendors set up at Barclay St Oval on Friday 16th October between 4-8pm and many more on Saturday 17th October from 11am-9pm.
We really hope to see you all there and that you enjoy what we have planned.

This week’s regional arts update brings together four developments with practical implications for artists, arts organisations, music workers and councils across south east NSW.

• The new Sound NSW Young Promoter Fund for emerging music promoters aged 18–30
• Major Create NSW funding for collaborative arts and cultural projects
• Support for councils establishing Special Entertainment Precincts
• Changes to Australia’s Lending Rights scheme affecting writers, illustrators and publishers

What did finance get up to this month? Quite a lot, as it turns out.

More than 20 artists were paid for their work at local events supported by South East Arts, and more than $30,000 went out to artists and local projects. Behind those payments is Abbey, keeping our budgets, forecasts and obligations on track.

Finance is a hugely important part of an arts organisation. Abbey helps us say yes to good ideas. Sometimes she tells us what we need to do to make a yes possible. Sometimes she tells us no. And crucially, she makes sure artists get paid.

Abbey makes things happen at South East Arts. We’re very lucky to have her on the team.

New funding for eligible NSW councils to establish Special Entertainment Precincts

A free two-day forum for regional museum and gallery workers, with travel bursaries of up to $500 available.
