At Neighbourhood Watch Victoria we are all for community support, but one thing we DON’T do is call you out of the blue to ask you for money, donations or payments.
We don’t do phone or online fundraising and we don’t sell ads into magazines or handbooks. Occasionally our local NHW groups might ask their local businesses for sponsorship to produce their community newsletters, but that's it.
So if you get a cold call from someone claiming to be from Neighbourhood Watch Victoria, asking you for money or wanting to you buy advertising, here’s what we suggest you do:
1. Don’t give them any money or commit to a sales agreement.
2. Ask for their name and the organisation they are working for, then source a phone number for them yourself, independently.
3. If they won’t give it to you - hang up
4. Note the date, time and brief details of the call and send them to us, via https://nhw.com.au/contact/ or by private message.
We have received a number of complaints like this and are reporting them to Victoria Police and Consumer Affairs Victoria.
