It has come to our attention that there are members of the community that are using our bins as their personal rubbish disposal. Please note, we rely on these bins for keeping our grounds clean and for paying campers to dispose of their rubbish - especially when we have large events.

We understand there looks to be ample of bins around the grounds, but that still does not entitle people to put their household rubbish in these, especially without asking first.

Anyone caught doing this, will not be welcome onto our grounds in future.

2026 Sponsorship Opportunities now available for the 102nd Melrose Show!

Our Show doesn't happen without it's volunteers. We currently have a few openings for convenors and stewards within our competitions. We are in search for a convenor for the current sections Junior Cooking and Stockman's Challenge.

We have also listened to some feedback from competitors about introducing the homebrew section back into our program. We are happy to implement this if we are supported with a convenor and steward to run the section. If this sounds like something you are interested in doing, please contact our secretary, Helane Blieschke or flick us an email on [email protected].

From a generous donation of scalps from seed cleaning, we are auctioning this off as a fundraiser for the society!

Selling as a whole, you will receive just over 8 tonne of scalps suitable for stock feed. Post of your bid in the comments of THE ORIGINAL post on the Mt. Remarkable Agricultural Society Inc. page. Winner will be the highest bid on Friday, 3 April at 5pm.

Grain must be gone due to the incoming seeding season.

The Society would like to take the time to acknowledge and remember a couple of special ladies who are no longer with us who contributed years to the Melrose Show, in particular the Cookery Section.

Margaret Blieschke became part of what was known at the time as the Miscellaneous Section (later to be known as Cookery) in 1973. She volunteered for 33 years, resigned as convenor in 2005. Margaret was part of the team who implemented the Male Cooks class in the show with her trusty side kick and friend, the late Betty Sanders.

Bev Taylor contributed 42 years to Cookery Section as well, taking a specific lead to the Junior Cookery. Bev joined the team back in 1984 until our very last show in 2025. She had only notified the committee that our most recent show would be her last in her role only weeks before her sudden passing. Bev was a very generous trophy donor throughout several sections in the Melrose Show program.

75 combined years of passion for community and their local show, innovation and hard work were not something these ladies were shy of. Without volunteers like Margaret and Bev, we wouldn't have the Melrose Show to enjoy. Amazing effort, ladies - your effort will not go unremembered.

We are super chuffed to have the 2026 Distrcit Council of Mount Remarkable Young Citizen of the Year, Kaitlyn Woolford, part of our show team and family.

Kaitlyn joined the Society a couple years ago due to passion for the Melrose Show and to ensure the longevity of the event for her children to enjoy. As a proactive member of the committee, she brings several new ideas to the table throughout the year, and is a regular at working bees and often does jobs behind the scenes with her partner Clayton without being asked.

You can bet your bottom dollar that if there's a fundraiser or event at the showgrounds, Kaitlyn has cooked up a storm or is behind the bar.

In 2024, Kaitlyn stepped up on the committee as Assistant Secretary and Pavilion Steward. In 2025, she represented the Melrose Show at the Northern Agricultural Shows Association Presentation Dinner as our Rural Ambassador, and did us proud.

Last year she also nominated and won for Melrose to host the annual 'Hoedown for Country Towns', and successfully raised money for Rural Aid. Her passion for the Mount Remarkable Agricultural Society and the Melrose Show overflows with everything she contributes, and we are beyond proud of her achievements so far.

This, combined with her other contributions to community groups, raising two kids and working on their family farm - we congratulate Kaitlyn on the very well deserved accolade of DCMR's Young Citizen of the Year.
