Rain, wind, and 10 legends at Cape Woolamai

Yesterday’s forecast said “stay home.” 10 hikers from 7 different countries said “nah.”

Everyone rocked up ready: rain jackets, umbrellas, rain pants and a few brave souls in shorts. We tackled the full 8.5 km loop in 2 hrs 50 mins, soaked but smiling the whole way.

The plan was to finish with a well-earned fish & chips lunch together. Then, back at the car park, our organisers realised their car keys were gone. Nowhere to be found.

By then most of the group was already on the road. But the moment they heard, every single car turned around and came back, ready to head out on the trail again to help search. Our organisers were so, so touched.

While waiting for everyone to return, one of the organisers went ahead to retrace their steps. About 10 minutes later, the keys had been found… sitting on the windscreen!

A kind stranger had picked them up, tracked down the car, and left them there. Whoever you are, THANK YOU. 🙏

From board games and belly laughs under the trees, to stargazing through a telescope, and everyone pitching in to set up camp together — this is exactly what Oot & Aboot is all about.

Huge thanks to everyone who came along and brought the good vibes (and to our amazing volunteers for making it all happen behind the scenes). Whether you were deep in a board game, chatting by the tents, or just soaking up the sunshine — we loved having you.

Muddy trails, drizzle, sunshine, laughter, 12km, and towering trees. That was our third monthly community hike!

One Ooter summed it up: “I wanted to get outdoors so bad . This was the perfect getaway.”
