Today, we were honoured to welcome Jess Wilson MP, Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the Liberal Party, together with Frank Schiefler - Liberal for Hastings, the Liberal candidate for Hastings, to the Sikh Volunteers Australia (SVA) community hub.

Jess Wilson acknowledged the significant contribution Sikh Volunteers Australia has made during times of natural disasters and emergencies, recognising the dedication of our volunteers and the spirit of selfless service (Seva) that has become a hallmark of our organisation. She also spoke about the importance of equality, community cohesion, and the values that make Australia a strong and inclusive nation. During the visit, we shared SVA’s future expansion plans and our vision to increase our capacity for food relief, disaster response and community support.

Our team also showcased the historic wagon of Minister Siwa Singh, preserved through the dedicated research and efforts of Len Kenna and Crystal Jordan. Australian Indian History

We sincerely thank Jess Wilson, Frank Schieffler and the Liberal team for taking the time to visit SVA, learn about our work, and engage with our vision for the future. We look forward to continuing to work with leaders from across the political spectrum to build a stronger, more inclusive, and resilient Australia.

They toured the site, learnt about our future expansion plans, and acknowledged the work of Sikh Volunteers Australia in serving the community. Building Bridges Through Understanding

Sikh Volunteers Australia (SVA) was honoured to present a Sikh Way of Life session to the Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) South East Leadership Team.

A sincere thank you to Assistant Chief Fire Officer Gavin Rooney and MLO Frank Yaman for organising this valuable opportunity to strengthen community connections and cultural understanding.

As part of the Sikh tradition, all attendees were served Langar, the free community meal open to everyone.

Together, we continue building stronger and more inclusive communities.

This month’s grocery hamper donation to the Drug Court Melbourne and the County Court of Victoria has once again been delivered as part of Sikh Volunteers Australia’s ongoing commitment to supporting rehabilitation, dignity, and hope within our community.

Through this small effort, we stand beside individuals who are working hard to rebuild their lives and move towards a better future. We thank all supporters and donors whose compassion makes this initiative possible month after month.

Service to humanity is a shared responsibility, and together, even small acts of kindness can create meaningful change.

Together, we serve humanity.

Sometimes, community service continues not only because of volunteers in the front, but because of kind people who quietly step in behind the scenes.

On one of our busiest days, with an urgent requirement needing immediate attention, Lars responded at very short notice and completed the testing and tagging of Sikh Volunteers Australia food van cables — free of cost and without any hesitation.

In times like these, such generosity means more than words can express.

Lars, your willingness to help, your humble nature and your support for service to humanity is deeply appreciated.

Thank you for standing with us.
