As the Christmas season swiftly descends upon us, it brings with it the familiar rush of present buying and end of year parties. It is also a time for reflection as we turn our hearts to this profound truth so beautifully captured in the words of Isaiah 9:6.
Christmas reminds us all of the moment when God's ultimate act of care was realised. On that day, the Word became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14). This is not just a reminder of Jesus' historical birth, but a present call to ministry.
This passage reminds us of Jesus' divine nature in human form. As we walk through our communities, celebrating with the joyful, meeting the lonely, comforting the grieving, sitting alongside those going through trauma, especially during this time of bushfires in NSW, we do not merely carry a message.
We are an extension of Him who sends us, reflecting the Wonderful Counsellor as we listen without judgement, and bringing the Prince of Peace into moments of chaos and despair.
This Christmas, may we be immensely aware that we are Christ's ambassadors (2 Cor 5:20), ministering to people and bringing His message of love and restoration. We pray you are renewed in strength to do justice, love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God (Micah 6:8). We love you and thank God for all you do.
We wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year in 2026.
