The final siren has sounded after our biggest event in Footy Finals Fever history!🏉

From footy legends and lively banter to powerful stories and extraordinary generosity, it was one to remember.

A very special thank you to very special mum Mel, who courageously shared her family's story. There wasn’t a dry eye as she spoke about her late daughter Elle, her son Wil, and the support her family has received through Very Special Kids.

Thanks to the generosity of AFL stars, corporates and supporters, we raised a record-breaking $450,000.

Every dollar can help us ensure children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families, receive the support they need.

A huge cheers to our incredible Finals Sponsors AllPour and Sutton Grange Winery, who helped keep the celebrations flowing throughout the afternoon.

What better way to make a respite stay at our children’s hospice even more special than a family day out at LEGOLAND? 🧱🤩

For Mehar and her family, it was their first stay at Very Special Kids House, a three-hour drive from home in regional Victoria. While in Melbourne, they enjoyed a great day out building LEGO creations and making memories that will last a lifetime.

We are so grateful to Merlin's Magic Wand Charity for providing tickets to LEGOLAND Discovery Centre and SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium for the children and families in our care. 🙌

We got the Footy Finals Fever today! 🏉

It was a full house at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins, with plenty of footy banter with AFL legends and lots of laughs for a very special cause.

Hands up who remembers the Very Hungry Caterpillar? 🐛🙋🏻‍♀️

Last week our allied health team created a fun, interactive activity for the children staying at Very Special Kids House. Featuring a musical version of the iconic book, the kids explored the hospice searching for all the caterpillar’s favourite foods – pears, strawberries and plums were top of the list!

By the end of the hunt, everyone was feeling a little like the Very Hungry Caterpillar!

For 13 years, her daughter Mia defied expectations.

When she died unexpectedly, her family was supported through after-death care at Very Special Kids, giving them precious time together before saying goodbye.

Today, on Dying to Know Day, we're sharing Mia's story to help foster open conversations about death, dying and grief. These conversations can help build understanding, ensuring people feel better informed and supported when loss becomes part of their lives. ❤

During the recent school holidays, more than 30 siblings joined us for a fun-filled day at Very Special Kids. 🤩

A multi-sensory obstacle course helped break the ice, encouraging teamwork, confidence and connection as siblings worked together to navigate challenges.

With support from our very special volunteers, the group also got creative, designing comic strips about someone who had supported them in achieving a goal.

Behind the scenes of a very special experience ✨

This Thursday, 12-year-old Charli-Koko and her family will help switch on the lights to the , lighting up the Melbourne skyline. 🎡

Charli-Koko's family are supported by Very Special Kids, accessing respite care at Very Special Kids House and tailored support for the family as they navigate life with a seriously ill child. We are so grateful to Melbourne Star for providing this exciting opportunity.

There was no shortage of happy hops and cheeky goat antics at Very Special Kids House this week 🐰🐐

Children enjoying a stay at our children’s hospice had the chance to cuddle fluffy bunnies and meet curious goats from our friends at Animals on the Move.
