Connecting Young Professionals across Victoria to create a fairer, safer and more sustainable world!

The UNAAV Young Professionals Network is open to young professionals between the ages of 25 and 40. It seeks to provide an opportunity to interact with like-minded people and gives young professionals from all walks of life a unique forum in which to learn more about current international issues, the United Nations and the work of the UN Association in Victoria and Australia more generally.

On Wednesday, the United Nations Association of Australia Victorian Division and the UNAAV Future Leaders Network had the pleasure of hosting International Careers Speed Mentoring event for Monash University students.
This event brought young and senior professionals together to learn how to build a fulfilling and impactful international career.
We were honoured to have guests with remarkable careers across the United Nations, UN agencies, academia, entrepreneurship, as well as government join us. The students posed questions, engaged in thoughtful discussions and gained an understanding of international career-building opportunities.

A huge thank you to our fabulous mentors, Adrian Morrice, Lucy Lin, Carlisle Richardson, Lynette Phuong, Associate Professor Susie Ho, Associate Professor Ian Howie, FLN Co-Presidents Che Mudunna & Chloe Luu and former FLN President Tony Luo.

We look forward to hosting a similar events in the future!

We recently hosted our second Mingles event featuring our special guest, Tony Luo, a Schwarzman scholar at Tsinghua University and former president of the FLN Network. Tony is pictured with FLN Committee memebers and event participants.

Tony, who currently works with the UN Global Leadership and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) programme in Beijing, shared valuable career insights with attending young professionals, drawing on his experiences and passion for advancing sustainable, connected cities through policy and innovation.

This was a great evening of conversation, knowledge sharing and connection. Stay tuned for the upcoming events.

Today is the day to celebrate UN Peacekeepers. For nearly 80 years, United Nations peacekeepers have delivered tangible change to communities across the globe.
More than 53,000 civilians, military, and police personnel serve in 11 UN peacekeeping missions working to restore stability and hope in communities.
Today we observe their service, sacrifice, and the communities they support.
We honour the nearly 4,500 peacekeepers who have lost their lives in the cause of peace. Including the 59 we lost in 2025 alone.

As we approach the end of the year, UNAA Victoria Future Leaders Network is reflecting on an incredible year of connection, communication, and inspired discussions that took place through a multitude of events.

Since the start of 2025, we’ve hosted events, collaborated with like-minded organisations, and had the privilege of connecting with a wealth of experts who covered a range of topics from international affairs to reinforcing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Some of the incredible events have included:

👯Mingles events, enabling connections between like-minded young professionals in a relaxed setting.

🎤Hosting and collaborating with United Nations Association of Australia Victorian Division on exciting events, notably the “Pathways to Peace: Marking UN Peacekeepers’ Day” with special guest Adrian Morrice.

👗Partnering with Melbourne Fashion Week to host “The Style Exchange” - a talk and swap event bringing together fashion and sustainability experts who discussed climate impact, textile labels, and human rights in fashion.

🎤Collaborating with Australian Institute of International Affairs Victoria on 2 events, namely, the highly anticipated annual International Careers Speed Mentoring Event. This event brought together young professionals who had the opportunity to gain advice and learn tips from 6 international affairs experts.

A massive thank you to everyone who joined us for our annual International Careers Speed Mentoring Event in collaboration with Australian Institute of International Affairs Victoria

The energy in the room was electric as our attendees connected with exceptional guest speakers, including former Ambassadors, UN experts, and leaders in Global Health, Human Rights, and Climate Action. Our mentors, representing the United Nations, government, corporate, and non-profit sectors, delivered invaluable insights and practical tips on:

- How to build a successful international career.

- The key professional requisites needed to succeed in global affairs.

- Strategies for making meaningful social impact.

🌱 And that's a wrap! What a day at The Style Exchange in collaboration with Melbourne Fashion Week (M/FW) last Saturday!

We had an incredible time exploring how fashion and sustainability are interwoven, bringing together a pre-loved clothing swap and insightful conversations with industry experts. We delved into vital topics like supply chains, reading labels, and the impact of fashion on the climate.

A huge thank you to our four wonderful guest speakers: Alesasha McCallion, Holly Orsag, and Freya Dinshaw, who shared their knowledge on driving change in the fashion industry—from protecting human rights in fashion to responsible sourcing.
A key takeaway for all of us: progress doesn't have to be huge to matter. Every step counts, whether it’s giving workers a stronger voice or building impactful partnerships.

The day ended on a high note with a fantastic clothes swap, proving that fashion can be both fun and sustainable! 👗
