Grateful to Recreational Aviation Australia, nature 🏕️, the extra layers 🧦🥶☺️, the campfire 🔥, the sun ☀️, the moon 🌒 , and the stars ✨.

Dan lost both legs in a motorcycle accident.
He was 31.
A licensed pilot with 900 hours.

His first question in the ICU:

"Can I still fly?" ✈️

The nurse didn't know.

Dan spent 3 months in rehab.
And 3 months researching.

FAA regulations.
Medical certificates.
Adaptive aircraft systems.

He found the answer.

Yes.
With the right medical evaluation
and adapted controls—
yes.

Dan went back to flight school.
Not as a student.
As a man who already knew how to fly—
learning to fly differently.

Hand controls for rudder input.
Adapted seat. Modified procedures.

His instructor—a 30-year veteran—said:

"I've never taught anyone this focused in my life.
He didn't come back to prove something.
He came back because the sky was HIS.
And nobody took that." 💙

Dan passed his checkride.

Flew out of the airport on a Tuesday.
Nobody watching.
Nobody cheering.

Just Dan.
And his adapted plane.
And the sky. ✈️

He posted about it once.
One photo.
Just him in the cockpit.

Caption: "They can have the legs.
I kept the license." 💪

The post got 4 million views.

Dan responded to none of them.

He was flying. 😂✈️
