Meet Daniel, a financial planner from Adelaide, football fan and someone who believes life is about purpose, connection and making the most of every opportunity.

This Becker Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Week, we’re sharing his story. For years, Daniel kept his diagnosis private. On his 30th birthday, he decided to share his lived experience publicly, hoping to raise awareness and encourage others to keep dreaming and doing what they love.

On 31 October, Daniel’s sister, Sarah, is holding a fundraising event Move for Muscles, in support of her brother and others living with neuromuscular conditions. Funds raised from this event will contribute to raising greater awareness and education around neuromuscular conditions.

This September, we're recognising Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) Awareness Month at Muscular Dystrophy Australia, and celebrating the importance of connection, support and community.

Paula, our Community Support Manager shares, β€œLiving with CMT has shown me the strength that comes from connection. Working at Muscular Dystrophy Australia gives me the chance to support others, and I’m proud to be part of an organisation that listens, cares, and stands with the CMT community.”

Whether you're living with CMT, supporting a loved one, or looking for information following a diagnosis, you don't have to navigate it alone. Our team is here to provide guidance, support and connections to services that can help.
