hways. Young people in Melbourne’s West are facing increasing hardship that ultimately leads to behavioral problems. The pressure placed on a young person living in a low socio-economic area is not well understood by the general population. This pressure leads to the young person disconnecting from society in general, sinking into extreme levels of low self esteem and self-worth and engaging in high-risk activity. The Les Twentyman Foundation aims to reconnect them with their families and communities enabling them to reach their full potential and make a positive contribution to society.

A huge thank you to the incredible Year 9 students and staff at Cheltenham Secondary College for packing over 800 stationery packs for our Back-to-School Program as part of their Community Wellbeing Give Back Day. 🧡🎒📚

Through teamwork, compassion and a genuine desire to give back, students helped pack essential Back-to-School supplies that will be distributed to support children and young people experiencing financial hardship.

Every backpack packed helps ensure a young person can return to the classroom in 2027 with the same opportunities as their peers, regardless of their circumstances. It's inspiring to see the next generation making such a meaningful difference in our community. 👏

Thank you for assisting us in ensuring young students can start the school year with the essentials they need to continue their education.

We were recently featured in the Wyndham Star Weekly regarding youth crime, what is driving it and, importantly, what can be done to prevent it.

For more than 30 years, the Les Twentyman Foundation has worked alongside young people and their families to provide support before challenges escalate.

As Paul shared, investing in early intervention means investing in safer communities. By keeping young people connected to education, family and their community, we can help create positive pathways and reduce their involvement with the justice system.

Our experience on the frontline shows us that early intervention works — but continued investment in the services supporting young people is crucial.

“Early intervention is the key.” – Paul Burke, CEO

A huge thank you to HP LIFE Program for generously volunteering their time to help detag brand new clothing, ensuring our youth workers can quickly distribute them to young people doing it tough this winter. 🧡👏

Your support helps us get these essential items into the hands of the young people who need them most. Thank you for your time and ongoing support, it’s so greatly appreciated by both us and the youth we support.

A huge thank you to Kylie and the incredible team at NBL for their generous donation of 150 basketballs to support our basketball programs. 🏀🧡

Both our team and our young people are so grateful for this incredible support. These basketballs will be put to great use by our Braybrook 96ers, helping more young people experience the positive impact of sport.

Sport plays such an important role in the lives of young people, building confidence, resilience, teamwork, friendships and a strong sense of belonging. Our programs help remove financial barriers, ensuring young people can be part of a team and access these opportunities regardless of their circumstances.

Our basketball program currently supports over 300 young people, with 15 volunteer coaches and 5 referees helping deliver opportunities across 31 teams.

Thank you, NBL, for investing in our young people and our communities. We can’t wait to see these basketballs in action! 💫

Every young person deserves the opportunity to change their path. 🧡

Our Youth Support Service (YSS) works with young people aged 10–17 following their first contact with police, providing early intervention and one-on-one support to help prevent further involvement with the youth justice system.

Through trusted relationships and personalised case management, our dedicated youth workers support young people and their families to overcome challenges, connect with essential services, and turn their lives around.

A huge thank you to our incredible YSS team for the compassion, dedication and commitment they show day in day out. Your work is changing lives and creating brighter futures for young people across our community.

We had an incredible day at the Sandringham Football Club luncheon celebrating the annual Les Twentyman Foundation Cup, honouring our founder, Les Twentyman OAM. 🏆🏉

It was especially fitting to see two clubs that Les was so closely connected to, Sandringham and Williamstown, come together in his honour.

A huge thank you to Sandringham Football Club for continuing to recognise Les' remarkable legacy and commitment to young people and the wider community. We’d also like to thank Club President and valued long-time supporter Nick Johnstone - Jellis Craig for hosting us.

Les' impact continues to be felt by so many, and we are incredibly proud to see his legacy live on. 🧡

Our Braybrook 96ers have taken a moment to reflect on what makes this club so special, the impact it has on the lives of our young people both on and off the court. 🏀👏

Hearing directly from our players shows just how important sport, connection and community are in creating a sense of belonging.

One young player shared:
"It makes me feel happy and excited to train and play games with my friends and meet new people."

Another shared:
"I feel welcomed, like I belong. I’m happy and look forward to it each season. Overall, it makes me feel proud and joyful."

The Braybrook 96ers is more than just basketball, it’s a place where young people build confidence, friendships, resilience and a strong sense of community.

We’re incredibly proud of each and everyone of our 96ers superstars. 🧡

One of our amazing youth workers recently received these messages from the mum of a young person they’ve been supporting. 🤳🧡

A simple text, but a powerful reminder of why we show up every day through the challenges and the wins. Our goal is to help create brighter futures not only for the young people we walk alongside, but for their families too.

At the Les Twentyman Foundation, we know lasting change happens when we support the whole family unit as a whole. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

So great to host Professor Alistair Fraiser from the University of Glasglow and Naomi Wales from the Violence Reduction Unit Victoria to discuss Ali's research on the Public Health Approach to Violence Reduction and reflect on the similarities and challenges in delivering youth work in Victoria, Glasglow and across the UK.

These conversations and the sharing of knowledge are invaluable in helping our team continue to learn, grow and strengthen the way we support young people.

By learning from different crime reduction approaches and experiences around the world, we can continue working towards providing the best possible outcomes for our young people and wider communities. 🧡
