hways. Young people in Melbourne’s West are facing increasing hardship that ultimately leads to behavioral problems. The pressure placed on a young person living in a low socio-economic area is not well understood by the general population. This pressure leads to the young person disconnecting from society in general, sinking into extreme levels of low self esteem and self-worth and engaging in high-risk activity. The Les Twentyman Foundation aims to reconnect them with their families and communities enabling them to reach their full potential and make a positive contribution to society.

Big shoutout to one of our incredible young people who is turning things around and taking powerful steps toward their future. 👏

After a period of disengagement from school, this young person reconnected through the School Outreach Support Service (SOSS), working closely with our dedicated youth worker, Miracle. With consistent support, outreach, and strong connections across school, family, and community, together they’ve rebuilt confidence and direction.

Today, they’ve successfully stepped into an employment pathway, beginning training that will lead directly into future job opportunities. This is what resilience, support, and opportunity look like in action. 🧡

SOSS continues to walk alongside young people, helping them re-engage, set goals, and create meaningful futures.

EOFY is the perfect time to make a difference. 💻🧡

If you’re upgrading your tech, consider donating your old laptop to support a young person doing it tough. While our Back-to-School Program has wrapped up for the year, the need continues — with a growing waitlist of students who still require access to a device.

For many young people, having a laptop isn’t a luxury, it’s essential. It means being able to complete schoolwork, stay connected to learning, and build confidence for the future.

🔹 We’re looking for laptops from 2021 onwards with current Windows capability
🔹 Refurbished or working devices are welcome
🔹 One donation can make a real impact on a young person’s education

📩 To donate or find out more: [email protected]

If you don’t have a laptop to donate but would still like to help, a $300 donation allows us to provide a fully refurbished laptop to a child in need, set up and ready to use.
If you would like to donate, please visit: https://ltfoundation.au/donate/

Together, we can help ensure no young person is left behind.

Texts like these are a powerful reminder of why early intervention and genuine connection truly matter. 💫

Recently, one of our young people sent this heartfelt message to our wonderful Youth Worker Mayen, thanking him for the support, patience and guidance he’s provided throughout their journey. From helping them feel safe enough to open up about their mental health, to connecting them with support services and being there during difficult times at home, this is the profound impact strong, trusted relationships can have. 🤝

At the Les Twentyman Foundation, we know that sometimes all it takes is one person believing in a young person to help change the direction of their life.

Thank you to our amazing, dedicated youth workers who continue to show up every day for young people in our community. We are beyond grateful for your dedication to bettering the lives of young people. 🧡

A huge thank you to CEO of the Violence Reduction Unit Victoria (VRU), Andrea Davidson, and senior executives Michael Hail and Kashmi Ranasinghe for taking the time to visit the Les Twentyman Foundation.🧡

We appreciated the opportunity to gain further insight into the VRU model, while also showcasing our programs, introducing our incredible staff, and sharing the important work being done every day to support vulnerable young people across our community. It was also a valuable chance to highlight current service gaps and discuss what young people need to further improve access to the support and opportunities they deserve.

Thank you for your genuine interest, meaningful conversations, and ongoing commitment to creating safer, stronger communities for young people. 🤝

We recently had the opportunity to spend time at Copperfield College (Delahay campus) with Premier Jacinta Allan, Natalie Hutchins MP, College Principal Nick Adamou, his staff and the college’s student leadership team.

It was a great opportunity to connect, share insights, and emphasise the importance of working with and assisting young people who may be struggling to remain engaged with their education. The importance of early intervention programs was a particularly strong flavour throughout the Premier’s visit.

Thank you for having us. 🧡

In recognition of World Stress Month, one of our in-school Youth Workers recently delivered a workshop focused on supporting young people to better understand and manage stress. 🧘‍♀️

The session encouraged students to take a moment to pause and breathe, while exploring practical coping strategies to help reduce stress in everyday life. They also shared valuable helplines and resources available to support young people during highly stressful times. 🧡

Creating space for these conversations is so important, and it’s great to see young people engaging with tools that support their wellbeing. 🌿

We were proud to attend the Le Mana Empower Pasifika Project roundtable, hosted by the Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) .

Thank you to CMY for bringing together community leaders, organisations and government to have important conversations around the needs and priorities of Pasifika young people in Melbourne’s west.

It was great to join Steve McGhie and Luba Grigorovitch as part of this important discussion.

It was valuable to be part of a space that centres the voices of young people and strengthens collaboration across the sector to better support our young people and communities. 🧡

Celebrating the wins both big and small. 💫👏

This photo may look like a simple selfie, but it represents six months of commitment, resilience, and growth. Behind it is a YSS client who has worked consistently toward her goals, staying engaged and determined even when faced with challenges along the way.

With the support of her Youth Worker, she has achieved everything she set out to do—showing strength, courage, and an ability to keep moving forward.

At the end of their final session, she said it best: “I feel amazing.”

Moments like these are a powerful reminder of what can be achieved with the right support and self-belief. 🧡
