A King's Birthday public holiday in Victoria meant one thing for me today — another training session on Mt Riddell.
Days like today are all part of preparing for Mera Peak in October. With just three months to go, the reality of what's ahead is starting to sink in.
Every climb reminds me why I'm doing this.
Peak for Parkinson's isn't about standing on top of a mountain. It's about teamwork and raising awareness and funds for Parkinson's research and helping make a difference for the thousands of Australians and families affected by this disease.
Lately I've had a lot of calls and messages from people wanting to support the cause, asking about merchandise, and wanting to know how they can donate. I honestly can't thank you enough. The support has been incredible.
We're also getting very close to launching our new website, which will make it much easier to share the journey, order merchandise, and contribute directly to the cause.
For those who have already donated, thank you. Every donation is 100% tax deductible and goes directly towards Parkinson's research in Australia.
Having spent most of my working life in the pest management industry, I've become increasingly aware of the conversations around environmental exposures and degenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s. While there is still much to learn, one thing is certain — research matters.
That's why we're climbing.
Not for the summit.
Not for the challenge.
But for the people and families living with Parkinson's today, and for future generations who deserve better answers.
Thank you for coming on this journey with me.
