GOLD COAST, QUEENSLAND — The Coomera Cutters junior rugby league community is grieving the deaths of two young players, Treyvon Bradshaw, 13, and Kaiyah Kennedy, 12.
The boys died days apart. The club has said they died by su***de; their deaths are not believed to be linked. Its message to their teammates, families and friends is to look after one another and speak up when they need support.
Treyvon has been remembered as a boy with a kind heart and a love of footy who made friends wherever he went. A fundraiser set up for his mother, Sarah, and his siblings is helping the family as they grieve.
Kaiyah’s family has described him as a loving brother, full of energy and fun. A proud Aboriginal boy, he loved learning about and being immersed in his culture. His family’s fundraiser remembers the warmth and mischief he brought to their lives.
For the Cutters, these were two boys known and loved well beyond the footy field. The club has urged its community to check in on friends, listen and remind anyone struggling that they matter.
