Alinta a new musical created in Robinvale and Mildura. Click the link for free tickets!

Phunktional Arts, together with the Robinvale Local Aboriginal Reference Group, proudly presents ALINTA, a moving new musical

that celebrates friendship, culture, resilience, and the healing power of story and Country.

“ALINTA is about more than finding your voice—it’s about being held by culture and community. That message is deeply important right now, ” says Gerard Veltre, Artistic Director of Phunktional Arts.

“Our young people deserve stories that reflect their strength, their challenges, and their connection to Country. ALINTA is for them,” adds Thelma Chilly, proud Wiradjuri, Muthi Muthi, Wadi Wadi, Wemba Wemba and Yorta Yorta Elder.

About the Show

ALINTA tells the story of a young woman whose accidental rise to online fame comes with pressures and secrets. Hiding the truth that she has never sung live, she withdraws from those closest to her. At her breaking point, she returns to the river, where Aunties and Elders remind her of who she is.

On the night of the show, Alinta finally sings live — supported by her choir, her community, and the strength of culture. The online noise fades away, and she finds her voice, her belonging, and her connection with what truly matters.

Sing to me in the silence of your heart and I will rise up to hear your triumphant song.
Rumi

I miss you Wasabi. We love you.

You sung on turntables on drums, in studios, at festivals in prisons, community centres and the Opera house! You always sung from your heart. I first admired you from a distance watching you blow away crowds at big venues like the Metro with your drumming, physical acrobatics and dancing. ❤️ I was sonically transported by a scratch dj battle between you and DJ Bacon that was one of the most epic and awe inspiring battles I’ve ever heard or witnessed!!! I had the privilege of working with you with the Deaf community, with community in Robinvale (VIC) and in youth justice centres in NSW where your heart shone light into very dark corners. You are one of a kind. A generous, wise fearless soul, with a cheeky smile and insane skilllzzzz. You were guided by your passions and your values and you made the world a better place by being you and doing what you loved…
