I may have done an early morning secret squirrel run this morning for Thursday Doula Dinner he he he

The weather for Thursday looks sunshiney - thank golly as Jen & I may not have many clothes on 🙈

Final Capture Photography is ready to capture the fun & love for you to be able to share with your loved ones/on your pages/your websites (if you have them), to be able to start conversations with a picture and hopefully ripple death literacy into your communities…

Jen has the bread ordered and the pumpkins ready…

Carly has instructed us to turn the heating up… not sure what the plan of outfit is there he he he

The Jens have decided to donate the proceeds of Thursday night to Rebecca Jane Foundation. Barb Ferguson the doula of all doulas put a plea out a few days ago as the charity is nearly out of funds 😞
As they help so many in our community and they help Barb a lot also we thought “why not show Barb we hear you (as she hears us & has us all over & over again. Her phone is always in to us), the charity “we appreciate you” and our Doulas “we can do great things when we work together”.
This is also a charity very close to Jen & I’s heart so we thought it fitting 🙂

So, we’re not taking a deposit for the dinner as we usually do, we just ask you to please bring cash and there will be a box on the front desk where you can pop as much or as little as you wish - zero judgement just a safe space for doulas to grow, debrief, connect, learn, be curious & build a community all while having some fun.

So, still time to book or actually just come along - as you know we always make enough to feed an army ha ha

As someone approaches their final days or hours of life, oral care is one of the simplest & most comforting acts we can offer 🙂

It’s not about “cleaning” as we do twice a day, it’s about comfort, dignity & tenderness.

Oral care is a small act but I feel it’s one that says “I’m here, you are cared for & you are not alone”…

I would absolutely love to go to this conference but it is a little pricy… I thought ohh maybe go for 1 day then I can’t actually choose a day as they all look amazing 🙈
So… there is an option for virtual & was wondering maybe if we got a few doulas together we could buy a virtual ticket and have our own gathering at Mordy?

Just a thought and would love to hear yours?

I know myself after supporting now 3 families through VAD and a few who I have walked along side to get approved and who are waiting for their time the importance of this being an option is non negotiable. I am forever grateful for those with greater intelligence who are pushing this as I have seen first hand the difference it makes :)

DWDV is offering one fully funded 2 day pass to attend the Trans Tasman Voluntary Assisted Dying Conference (VADCON 2026) in Melbourne on 19–20 October, plus a travel bursary for regional applicants if needed.

We’re inviting applications from people whose work connects to VAD, such as medical practitioners, nurses, social workers, psychologists, pharmacists, occupational therapists and individuals who support VAD applicants or their families. You must be living and working in Victoria to be eligible.

What’s included
• 1 x in person 2 day pass (valued at $795)
• Travel bursary available for regional applicants
