What better way to spend a sunny day than getting outdoors, pulling weeds and helping keep our beautiful local park thriving?

Today's working bee came with an unexpected wildlife show - a bit of a showdown between a ringtail possum and a lorikeet, which ended with the possum retreating to a tree branch in broad daylight — not your everyday sight!

Thanks to everyone who came along and helped care for Belmont Park!

The updated Boroondara Tree Canopy and Biodiversity Action Plans have some great initiatives!

Boroondara Council not only invited Rotary to be part of the community group giving feedback but listened to the group's feedback and adopted some of our suggestions.

A job well done by the Friends of Belmont Park!

Despite the rainy weather, we spent the morning weeding and mulching a beautiful area of the park, giving it a new look before the Grand Final kicks off. 🏉🌧️

Friends of Belmont Park Balwyn meet every second and fourth Saturday of the month at 11 am.

We're concentrating on controlling emergent weeds in the area that 800 small bird habitat plants were planted in June.

In the beautiful sunshine today - we were treated to the golden flower of masses of Bulbine lilies.

Thick mulch on the S/E border will help stop Panic Veldt seeding back into the adjacent bed.

The Friends of Belmont Park has had another lovely working bee today! 🌿🐦

We had plenty of feathered companions keeping us company as we worked, with a noticeable number of birds joining us throughout the morning.

To finish the day, we were treated to a tour of Annie’s beautiful garden, which sparked a lively discussion about the importance of having plenty of vegetation and trees in our gardens. 🌳🌱

A great reminder that even our own backyards can make an important contribution to creating habitat for birds and other wildlife. 💚

Pretty good tips!

If you'd like to test how good connecting with nature is for our well being - join Friends of Belmont Park Balwyn this Saturday 22 August at 11 am!

A little less scrolling, a little more time among the trees 🌿🌳

What else would you add to this?
