🏀 Rain or shine, we make it happen.

The weather may be bad, but our basketball team has no problem with that. Champions are not made when conditions are perfect—they are made when challenges arise and people choose to keep going.

While others see rain, we see an opportunity to build resilience, discipline, and teamwork. Every practice, every game, and every challenge makes us stronger.

At RAMS Basketball Club and the African Youth Collective, we don’t make excuses—we make progress. We show up, we work hard, and we continue to push forward no matter the conditions.

Bad weather won’t stop us. It only proves how committed we are to our goals.

🏀 Strong minds. Strong players. Strong community.

Rain or shine, we make it happen. ⚽️

The weather may be bad outside, but our soccer team has no problem with that. We don’t wait for perfect conditions—we show up, work hard, and make it happen.

Rain tests commitment, character, and determination. While others stay home, we step onto the field, support one another, and keep pushing forward. Every challenge is an opportunity to grow stronger as a team.

At the African Youth Collective, we don’t let obstacles stop us. We adapt, we persevere, and we keep moving forward.

Bad weather. Great attitude. Strong team.

Food for Mind

When they moved from Europe to Africa, they called it a voyage of discovery. When we move from Africa to Europe, they call us illegal immigrants.

A group of Africans in Europe are called refugees. A group of Europeans in Africa are called tourists.

A group of Africans in the bush are called poachers. A group of Europeans in the bush are called hunters.

Black people working in a foreign country are called foreigners. White people working in foreign countries are called expatriates.

This world has worked against Africa and Black people in general. One of the greatest absurdities that has been normalised is this:

When a French national cannot speak English, Africans respect him.

When a Chinese national cannot speak French, Africans respect him.

When an Italian cannot speak Chinese, Africans respect him.

When a Russian cannot speak English, Africans respect him.

Yet somehow, many Africans look down on their own people for speaking their native language or preserving their culture.

So why do you want to disrespect the one who protects his own language and culture, while respecting everyone else for doing the same?

Why are you willing to destroy your own language and culture just to be loved and accepted by the same people who, to this day, often refuse to see your full humanity?

Think about it.

B-MAD BBQ Sunshine is making it happen! 🔥

Today we enjoyed some of the greatest food yet at our B-MAD BBQ in Sunshine. No matter the challenges, our young men continue to show up, work hard, support one another, and make things happen.

This is what B-MAD is all about — Beyond Mental Health, Alcohol and Drugs. Creating positive spaces where young people can connect, build friendships, develop leadership, and strengthen their sense of belonging.

We are proud of every young person who contributes their time, energy, and passion to making our community stronger.

The boys are making it happen, no matter what. Together we continue to build unity, hope, and opportunity for the next generation.

We are excited to announce that our B-MAD (Beyond Mental Health, Alcohol and Drugs) BBQ program has officially reached Sunshine!

At African Youth Collective, we are proud to be working across Melbourne’s west to promote peace, unity, connection, and positive opportunities for our young people and communities.

Through food, conversation, mentorship, and community engagement, we are bringing people together and creating spaces where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and supported.

This is more than a BBQ—it’s about building stronger communities, stronger relationships, and a brighter future for the west.
