Australasian Leukaemia & Lymphoma Group - ALLG For patients, this means an improved chance of cure, and better quality of life.

Since 1973 the ALLG has been pioneering life-changing blood cancer clinical trials, delivering innovative treatment options that transform the lives of those with blood cancer. The Australasian Leukaemia & Lymphoma Group (ALLG) is the only not-for-profit, collaborative clinical research group in Australia and New Zealand dedicated to finding new ways to treat blood cancers such as leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and myelodysplastic syndromes. The ALLG membership includes more than 1,000 doctors, nurses, scientists and support staff across Australia and New Zealand, all of whom are looking for ways to better treat blood cancers through clinical research. By conducting national and international collaborative clinical trials at sites across Australia and New Zealand, ALLG researchers are helping to make new and more effective treatments available to people suffering from blood cancers.

ALLG's Scientific Meeting returns to Melbourne from 10-13 November 2026 at the Park Hyatt Melbourne, bringing together leading clinicians, researchers and healthcare professionals from across Australia, New Zealand and around the world.

Free for ALLG Members, the meeting offers a unique opportunity to explore the latest advances in blood cancer research, gain insights into ALLG clinical trials and connect with colleagues from across the haematology community.

This year's program features an outstanding line-up of international and local experts, including Professor Susan Branford, a globally recognised leader in molecular monitoring and translational research in chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML). The meeting will also showcase emerging research, clinical trial updates, disease-specific sessions and collaborative discussions designed to advance patient outcomes.

Registrations are now open via the ALLG Member Portal.

Today is Day. Research has transformed blood cancer treatment over the past few decades, turning once-fatal diagnoses into manageable conditions and creating new hope for patients and families.

One remarkable example is Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML), where Australian researchers have helped drive breakthroughs that have changed outcomes for patients around the world. Today, the next generation of research is continuing this progress through innovative clinical trials that bring new treatments to patients faster than ever before.

At ALLG, we are proud to support the researchers, clinicians and patients who make these advances possible. Together, we're building a future with better treatments, improved quality of life and more lives saved.

Today is .

Research breakthroughs don't happen without investment.

The ALL09 SUBLIME trial, which helped improve treatment approaches for adolescents and young adults with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL), was made possible through the commitment of researchers, clinicians, patients and funding partners.

Support from Amgen and the Australian Government through a Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) grant awarded via Canteen Australia enabled this important research to be delivered across Australia.

Behind every advance in blood cancer treatment is a community of people working together to make better outcomes possible.

On World ALL Day, we celebrate the impact of research and the importance of continued investment in life-saving clinical trials - allg.org.au.

We're proud to share that the ALLG BM12 CAST Trial has been recognised as Runner-Up in the 2026 Australian Clinical Trials Alliance (ACTA) Trial of the Year Awards.

The landmark trial demonstrated a safer, more effective approach to reducing Graft Versus Host Disease (GVHD), a serious complication that can occur after stem cell transplantation for blood cancers.

Led by Professor David Curtis and the Australasian Leukaemia & Lymphoma Group (ALLG), the research is helping establish a new standard of care and improving outcomes for patients around the world - https://allg.org.au/bm12-cast-trial-wins-2026-acta-trial-of-the-year-award/

Today is Lymphoma Awareness Day.

For people diagnosed with lymphoma, research offers hope for better treatments and better outcomes.

That's why ALLG partners with doctors and researchers across Australia to develop clinical trials that create new opportunities for patients and help advance blood cancer care.

One of our current studies is exploring a new treatment approach for a rare and aggressive type of lymphoma. The trial recently reached an important milestone, helping build knowledge that could shape future treatment options.

Every clinical trial brings us one step closer to more effective, targeted treatments and better outcomes for people living with blood cancer.

"To leave a gift in my Will makes me feel that I can play an active role in supporting life-saving research. Blood cancer treatments today are better than before because of clinical trials research, so I want to contribute to improving it further for people who need it most in Australia and New Zealand." - Janey Stone, ALLG supporter.

ALLG is part of 'Include A Charity Week 2026' (September 7 - 13) - an initiative to encourage our wonderful community to join Janey and others like her in considering including a gift in your Will to support ALLG’s lifesaving blood cancer research.

Including a gift in your Will for ALLG will help us to bring new treatments and hope to those who need it most - the 20,000 Australians and New Zealanders diagnosed every year with a blood cancer such as leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma.

Your legacy will support significant breakthroughs in blood cancer research that will provide precious hope to people now and in the future whilst truly shifting the dial on blood cancer treatment.

Over 20,000 Australians and New Zealanders are diagnosed with a blood cancer like leukaemia, lymphoma, or myeloma every year. Unfortunately, 6,000 people pass away from their diagnosis.

Clinical trials are the crucial link between a discovery made in the laboratory and an advancement in new treatments reaching patients with blood cancer. ALLG is Australasia's only not-for-profit blood cancer clinical trials group, and with our incredible member researchers, we have enabled over 15,000 people to access lifesaving blood cancer treatments. With your help, we can do more.

This September for Blood Cancer Awareness Month, ALLG is raising awareness and much-needed funds for blood cancer research. There are so many ways to get involved - simply choose one that suits you best and make a difference:

Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) remains one of the most aggressive blood cancers, with many older patients still facing poor outcomes despite advances in treatment.

The AMLM28 ADAPT trial is an innovative platform study designed to personalise treatment for older patients with AML through MRD-guided therapy approaches. By adapting treatment based on patient response and disease biology, the study aims to improve long-term outcomes while supporting more targeted and flexible care.

Platform trials like ADAPT represent the future of blood cancer research helping bring more personalised treatment approaches to patients who urgently need better options.

On 1 September, ALLG staff kick started Blood Cancer Awareness Month with a lunch. πŸ§πŸ‰πŸ“

The team showcased their spirit by dressing up in their finest red outfits as they gathered for a lunchtime event of fun while raising funds for independent blood cancer clinical trials.

The team participated in a red-themed quiz, a prize draw, and a Best Dressed competition and shared a lunch of red-themed treats before hearing from Professor Stephen Opat, a long-standing ALLG member and co-chair of the Lymphoma Working Party.

Professor Opat shared the positive impact of clinical trials on CLL treatments, the importance of a patient-centered approach to treatment and improvements to survival rates and quality of life.
