Rookies Day Out...

After a week of sunshine the heavens opened up this morning for Harry's first taste of the Bash on the Rookies Day Out. The rain didn't dampen our enthusiasm as we travelled 200kms from Beaumaris to Longwarry on some of the roads less travelled.

Harry proved himself as a worthy navigator/driver and the car performed well in the muddy conditions. It was a good test run for the big event in August from Halls Gap to Exmouth.

Fundraising Beers!

Our mates at Buller Road Brewery have helped us out again this year brewing some fundraising beers to help raise money for the Variety Bash to Exmouth in August.

Matching our car theme we have two out-of-this-world beers on offer:

Laser Beam Lager - Full Flavoured Mid Strength Lager 3.5%
Galactic Pale Ale - Brimming with NZ Nectaron Hops 5.4%

A donation of $29 will get you a free 4pk and donations of $99 will earn you a free carton of 16 beers. Available to 18+ persons only. All profits go to Variety - the children's charity.

New programmable lights for our Bash car. Looking good!

Nice Rack!!!

It's out with the old and in with the new. We have upgraded our roof rack to a new Rola Titan Tray...available from your local Bunnings store very soon!

Adding accessories is now a breeze with off the shelf Rola mounts available for just about anything! In addition to the previous accessories we have now mounted recovery tracks and Starlink as connectivity was an issue last trip.

Next we will be fitting additional lights on the rack for some special alien/ufo effects and outdoor speakers for some out-of-this-world sounds!

Wait? What? It's 2026 already?!!!

That means there is just over 6 months until the Variety Bash!!!

Time to get cracking on the car and fix those nasty leaks we encountered last Bash and work on our new theme - Aliens in 88.

This year we'll be travelling from Halls Gap VIC all the way to ExMouth WA on mostly outback tracks (5,274km 60% dirt).

There have been plenty of strange sightings reported in remote parts of Australia, especially while crossing the Nullarbor Plain. Team "BSG - Aliens in 88" will add to this intrigue with colourful lights and alien sounds emanating from our vehicle as we travel through the outback. Who knows, we might even attract the attention of a passing ET! 👽

This year it's all about raising money and having fun. Lights, sounds, costumes - doin it for the kids!

We’re Exhausted!

Preparations have started for next years Variety Bash to ExMouth in August. Today Harry (new recruit to Team BSG) and I replaced the exhaust on the Bash car. It was well overdue with only a few patch welds holding it together last trip. Time to replace before it rusts away!

A bit of an upgrade with extractors and larger pipes to hopefully find some of the horses that have bolted over the past 30+ years.

Job done. Sounds nice. Fully sic mate! 😂

The home stretch.

We were up before dawn at Adelaide River to start our journey to Darwin.

We worked our way through Litchfield National Park stopping in at Florence Falls, Tolmer Falls, and a swim at Wangi Falls.

We made our way to Darwin and the finish line about 2pm central time. Final Bash dinner tonight!
