25th Anniversary of Australian service in Afghanistan - Commemorative Coin.

We are releasing a commemorative coin to mark the 25th anniversary of Australian service in Afghanistan (2001–2021) and to honour those who served.

The coin will be available at the national commemorative service, to be held at the Australian War Memorial on 11 October 2026. This service will formally recognise the service and sacrifice of all those who served in the Afghanistan War (2001–2014) and conflicts in Afghanistan (2015 to present), as well as the families of veterans.

For veterans and families who cannot attend the commemorative service in person, coins will also be available following the event. Register for delivery or collect the coin at one of the locations listed on DVA's website.

To register to attend the commemorative service, or for more information on how to collect a coin, visit the link in the comment section 👇

Congratulations to Caroline Torode, a passionate war historian and local teacher who has fought long and hard to have the original dedication returned to this building!
Well done 🇦🇺

Caroline Torode is a local historian, teacher and life-long resident of Tullamarine.

She has dedicated her work to honouring the memory and legacy of those who fought for our country and thanks to her I’ve got some wonderful news to share.

She has been advocating for the Tullamarine Community Hall to have its name restored to Tullamarine War Memorial Hall.

In partnership with Hume City Council, it gives me great pride to announce that the name will be changed back to honour those who have served and sacrificed for our country.

I want to thank Caroline Torode and the extended community for their advocacy.

Congratulations to Caroline and everyone involved in the campaign.
