Day 4 in Blantyre 🇲🇼

Our final day brought everyone together for multidisciplinary activities focused on teamwork, communication and collaboration.

Doctors, nurses and clinical officers worked together through practical scenarios, sharing knowledge and learning from each other along the way.

A fantastic way to finish the program, celebrating the importance of working together to provide the best possible care for patients. 💙

Day 3 at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Blantyre 🇲🇼

Another great day of teaching, learning and collaboration with our Malawian healthcare colleagues.

Sessions included plastering, chest drain insertion, airway management and a range of other practical skills and clinical topics.

It’s fantastic to see everyone sharing knowledge, building confidence and learning from each other through hands-on, multidisciplinary teaching.

🇲🇼 Blantyre Program | Day 1

Day 1 of Pangea’s program at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre is complete, and we’re already well into Day 2!

It’s been a fantastic couple of days of collaboration, teaching and shared learning, bringing together healthcare professionals to build knowledge, skills and confidence in surgery and emergency care.

Topics have included:
🫁 Respiratory assessment
🧠 Neurological assessment
🪡 Suturing
👶 Neonatal & paediatric resuscitation
🚑 Trauma
🦴 Orthopaedics
…and many more practical sessions.

We’re loving the energy, engagement and willingness to learn from everyone involved. There’s something incredibly valuable about learning with and from each other, sharing experiences and building skills that can be applied in local clinical settings.

A huge thank you to all our participants and teaching team for making the program such a success so far. ❤️

What an inspiring showcase of research, innovation, and dedication in Lilongwe! 🇲🇼

We are proud to celebrate our Kathryn Edyvane Award winner from Lilongwe and our two outstanding runners-up, whose research highlights important challenges and opportunities for improving healthcare in Malawi.

🥇 Winner – Ishmael Mbeye
Barriers and facilitators to transition of care from pediatric to adult care among children with rheumatic heart disease attending cardiac clinic at QECH, Malawi.

🥈 Runner-up – Bayill Chindungwa
Prevalence and associated factors of obstructive sleep apnea among patients with hypertension at Kamuzu Central Hospital.

🥉 Runner-up – Julius Nazombe
Stigma and psychosocial burden of Hirschsprung disease on families: Comparing urban and rural caregiver experiences in Malawi.
