Behind the Scenes at Nūl!

Today, the team came together again for a powerful workshop collaborating and planning towards Nūl’s future events.
- Fragments of Us, Exhibition: 19th - 27th of June
- Nūl Peace Ride: 1st - 22nd of July

Nūl exists through a shared commitment and vision; to develop a 50-acre community hub in Sri Lanka, fostering education, economic opportunity, and equity based sustainable change.

It was another productive meeting filled with inspiring, collective effort.

Artist Spotlight: Amalaitharan Sivagnanam

Amalaitharan Sivagnanam is a contemporary artist based in Vavuniya, Sri Lanka. His work centres on the memories and silences of the Vanni region, exploring how the aftermath of war continues to affect not only human life but also the land, water, and air.

His practice bears witness to destruction while offering a quiet invitation to remembrance, healing, and regeneration.

Experience Amalaitharan’s work at Fragments Of Us, an exhibition bringing together artists from Sri Lanka and the diaspora to explore identity, memory and belonging.

Artist Spotlight: Vigneswaran Thangeswaran

Vigneswaran Thangeswaran is a multidisciplinary artist from Kaluvenkeni, Batticaloa. A graduate of the University of Jaffna with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (2020), his work spans painting, sculpture, printmaking, handicrafts, and photography.

As a member of the Vedda Indigenous community, a coastal tribal group from Sri Lanka’s east coast, his practice engages with coastal Indigenous communities through multiple perspectives. He explores their distinct customs, language, land, and artistic traditions, portraying ways of living deeply connected with nature.

Krishna Ratnasingam is an artist from Muthur in the Trincomalee District who was displaced to Batticaloa in 2006 due to the war.

Krishna’s art is deeply rooted in the memories of war she witnessed as a child. Experiences such as aerial bombardments, displacement, burning forests, and shattered lives are expressed through an emotionally charged visual language in her work.

Her art has become a voice for orphans, grieving parents, the silent suffering of women, and families still waiting for their missing loved ones.

You can experience Krishna’s work at Fragments of Us, an exploration of Sri Lankan identity as lived across fracture, memory, and belonging.

Artist Spotlight: Lashini Piyatunga

Lashini Piyatunga is a photographer and visual artist based in Naarm and with roots in Sri Lanka.

Lashini explores the intersection between people and place through her lens drawing inspiration from lived experiences and human connection to land.

Straddling the line between a quiet observer and a creative curator to convey human stories of movement, she strives to evoke raw and unfiltered emotion through bold colours and distinct imagery.

Meet Nick!

We are proud to have Nick joining the 2026 Nūl Peace Ride, embarking on a 1,000km journey across Sri Lanka this July.

“As soon as I came across the opportunity to be a part of the Peace Ride, I put my name forward. The opportunity to connect with diverse cultural groups throughout Sri Lanka, whilst raising funds to contribute to the locally led project of building a hub to create economic opportunities for communities that have experienced so much hardship aligns strongly with my core ethics and values. I’m super excited to take part in the ride, and even more so to learn from people living in these communities."

There are many ways to support! You could join us on the ride in July, donation via our website, or simply give us a follow and support our journey online. Sounds like something you’re interested in?
