MJBW hosts events every year, in partnership with a number of Australian cultural organisations. We encourage attendance from the broader community who are passionate about writing in all its forms.

Global Conversations: Mindless: What’s Happened to Our Universities?

Join us for an exclusive live event with Emeritus Professor Cary Nelson in conversation with Professor Kim Rubenstein.

Based on his Jewish Quarterly essay, Cary examines how universities—once bastions of truth, knowledge, and freedom—have been overtaken by a toxic fervour. Civil discourse has collapsed, and campuses have become hotspots for hate speech, bigotry, conspiracy theories, denialism, and antisemitism.

Yet, as Cary reveals, this crisis has been decades in the making.
