After taking the King's Birthday off, Toorak Toastmasters came back for Monday 23 June! We had a brilliant line-up of speakers. Patrick told us how to manage stress. Our president Heather Yu told us about the troubles one faces working in early childhood care. And Natali made a big speech today to finish her whole Pathways course!

If you're interested in improving your public speaking, Toorak Toastmasters meets on the second and fourth Monday of every month at the Grattan Gardens Community Centre. For more information see: https://tooraktoastmasters.toastmastersclubs.org/

We had another bumper meeting this Monday. Our club president Heather Yu gave a last minute speech on how to keep young children engaged. Petra showed us how a picture very rarely contains 1000 words. And has begun a new Pathways course, and presented her ice-breaker speech on picking your ambitions.

If you want to become more confident and capable at public speaking, planning, and leadership, come join us at Toorak Toastmasters. Our next meeting is April 28 7pm at the Grattan Gardens Community Centre.

Dear All,

We are excited to announce that after receiving the go-ahead from members and the committee, it has been decided that from 2025, our new venue will be the Grattan Gardens Community Centre (GGCC) in Prahran. It is located at 40 Grattan St, Prahran VIC 3181, near the corner of Commercial Road and Grattan Street, not far from Greville Street.

Our last meeting at the Australian Nurses Memorial Centre (ANMC) was this past Monday 9 December for our Christmas celebration. It was lovely to see many of you there.

This decision has been made to address rising costs at the ANMC and presents an opportunity to make a new space of our own in Prahran. The venue has the capacity for our meetings throughout the 2025 calendar year, as well as the ability to utilise larger spaces for special functions. Our sister club, South Yarra Toastmasters, will also be joining us at GGCC on their scheduled day.

It is important to note we are retaining meetings on the 2nd and 4th Mondays in the month. Our first meeting for 2025 will be on Monday 10 February 2025 at the new venue GGCC.

The committee is looking forward to this next phase in Toorak and South Yarra’s journey and we can’t wait to continue to flourish in Prahran.

We wish you all a happy and safe festive period and can't wait to welcome you to our new venue.

Kind regards,

Toorak Toastmasters Committee

A packed meeting this Monday, on the theme of well-being! Thanks to our Toastmaster for the night Apurv for sprinkling in little nuggets of science about well-being.

As usual, the first half of our meeting is impromptu speaking. Even our guests felt confident enough to get up and say a few words off the top of their heads.

We had a full slate of prepared speeches by members. Natali practised her project management, getting us all hyped for a Guisness World Record. Michael Taylor gave a snippet of his podcast. And Matthew showed us how to apply change management to life’s big changes.

If you’re interested in gaining confidence in public speaking, feel free to walk on in to our next meeting. Details can be found on our website: https://tooraktoastmasters.toastmastersclubs.org/

Another packed meeting for Toorak Toastmasters!

We even had our Toastmasters Area Director Laura, and our District Director David!

Members practiced speeches for all occasions. Stephanie practised a toast for her two favourite people, Rick gave us a history-spanning overview of what makes good PR, and Rich taught us the value of keeping a level head in high-pressure situations.

Do you want to be more comfortable when speaking. Toorak Toastmasters can give you a safe and positive environment to practise for a wide variety of speaking occasions.
