🇦🇺🇻🇳 A meaningful day for Global Viet Women

Today was a particularly meaningful and memorable day for Global Viet Women (GVW) 🌸🌼🪷

GVW was honoured to be represented at the State Lunch hosted by Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of Australia, in honour of the State Visit to Australia by His Excellency Mr Tô Lâm, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Representing GVW, our Co-founder and President Minh Cao had the opportunity to share with Her Excellency and distinguished guests about GVW’s work and our vision for the role Vietnamese women can play in strengthening the connections between Australia and Vietnam.

At GVW, we believe stronger bilateral relationships are built not only through governments, but also through people, communities, businesses and culture.

Through our work in Culture, Commercial Connections and Capability Building, we aim to connect Vietnamese women across Australia and Vietnam and create opportunities for greater collaboration and contribution.

Later in the day, GVW was also honoured to attend the official welcome for General Secretary and President Tô Lâm, hosted by the Embassy of Vietnam in Australia, at the newly inaugurated Vietnam House in Canberra.

Being part of these two occasions on the same day — at Australia Government House and then at Vietnam House — was both an honour and a deeply moving experience.

For a young organisation like GVW, moments like these remind us why we started: to connect people, empower women and contribute to a stronger and more connected Australia–Vietnam relationship.

We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute and look forward to continuing to build bridges through women, culture, connection and opportunity.

🚨 Final Call | Join the Australia–Mekong Screen Exchange Team

The recruitment period for the Australia–Mekong Screen Exchange is coming to a close at the end of this week.

Firstly, thank you to everyone who has applied. We have been incredibly encouraged by the strong interest in our Project Officer and Marketing & Communications Team roles, with many high-quality applications received.

As we complete our recruitment, we are now looking for more passionate professionals from the Arts, Film, Media and Entertainment industries to join our volunteer teams, particularly:

🎬 Program Team (Australia & Vietnam)
Help shape the Exchange's residencies, mentorship and co-production labs by contributing industry insights, creative perspectives and program development ideas that reflect the evolving screen sector.

🤝 Partnership Team (Australia & Vietnam)
Build meaningful relationships with industry, education and cultural partners across Australia and the Mekong region to strengthen collaboration and expand opportunities for participants.

The Australia–Mekong Screen Exchange is a two-year initiative delivered by Global Viet Women, in partnership with the Australian Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and the ASEAN-Australia Centre. Together, we're creating opportunities for emerging and mid-career screenwriters, directors and producers across Australia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos to connect, collaborate and create.

Global Viet Women | Join our Australia–Mekong Screen Exchange Core Team

An exciting project is taking shape, and we’re hiring (and recruiting volunteers) to bring it to life!

Australia–Mekong Screen Exchange is a new initiative connecting emerging and mid-career Australian, Vietnamese, Lao and Cambodian screen practitioners through residencies, mentorship and co-production labs, creating meaningful cross-border collaborations and long-term creative partnerships. The project is supported by the ASEAN-Australia Centre.

Here’s how you can be part of it:
🌟 Paid Opportunity:
01 Project Officer (Independent Contractor)
Home-based in Ho Chi Minh City or Can Tho, Vietnam

The Project Officer will play a central role in coordinating the day-to-day delivery of the Exchange, working closely with the GVW team and regional partners across Australia and the Mekong region. This position includes project administration, stakeholder liaison, event coordination, reporting, communications and operational management, with opportunities to travel within Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Australia.

🤝 Volunteer Opportunities
We are also recruiting passionate volunteers across Australia and Vietnam to support project delivery:

* Project Assistant (1 Australia)
* Program Team (2 Australia | 2 Vietnam)
* Marketing & Communications Team (3 Australia | 3 Vietnam)
* Partnership Team (2 Australia | 2 Vietnam)
* Event On-site Coordinators (10 volunteers per event)

Together, these teams will help deliver an international program that strengthens creative industries, cultural exchange and regional collaboration.
